From today (April 15) to April 18, according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, candidates will try to register for the high school graduation exam on the exam management system. Then, from April 21 to 5:00 p.m. on April 28, they will officially register.

The Department of Quality Management (Ministry of Education and Training) notes: Before filling out the registration form, candidates must carefully read the sections and instructions. If there are any unclear points, candidates must ask the registration reception officer for full instructions. Candidates must be fully responsible for the information declared in the registration form.

Candidates are students in grade 12 who fill out online registration information using the account provided on the exam management software system. Candidates must keep their information confidential and change their password as soon as it is provided. After changing the password, they must keep it. If you forget your account and password, please contact us to have it reissued.

The candidate's photo on the system must have a minimum resolution of 400x600 pixels, be taken in ID format and no more than 6 months before the application submission date. During the registration process, preliminary registration, and university and college admission registration, candidates must use a unified type of identification document: ID card/CCCD/personal identification/passport number. During the registration period, candidates wishing to register for university and college admission must declare on the software complete and correct information with evidence to enjoy priority in admission.

CAN I REGISTER FOR THE EXAM AND ENTER THE FOREIGN LANGUAGE CERTIFICATE AT THE SAME TIME?

In section 14 of the registration form, for candidates wishing to be exempted from the foreign language exam, the Ministry of Education and Training instructs that they must clearly state the type of certificate that qualifies for exemption or that they are a member of the national team participating in the International Olympic competition in foreign languages ​​according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training. For the type of certificate that includes the exam score (total exam score), candidates must write the score in the "exam score" box.

For example, if a candidate registers for exemption from the foreign language exam in the high school graduation recognition exam or registers for admission, the candidate must write down the type of foreign language certificate that meets the requirements according to regulations or clearly state that he/she is a member of the national team participating in the International Olympic competition in foreign languages ​​to be exempted from the exam): TOEFL ITP Test score (if the certificate has a test score), the candidate must write the score in the available box on the registration form.

However, sharing with Thanh Nien reporters, many candidates and high school principals are concerned: When candidates choose to take the English graduation exam but still want to attach their foreign language certificate to the system for university admission, is that possible? The reason for this concern is because this year, universities have stopped early admission according to the new admission regulations. All admission methods are uploaded to the general admission system of the Ministry of Education and Training. Each university will have different admission methods, some schools use foreign language certificates to convert admission scores, but some schools only use graduation exam results for admission. Therefore, many candidates want to be able to choose to take this subject during the registration process, but also want to upload their foreign language certificate to the system to be able to convert admission scores to some universities they desire.

However, in response to reporters, the leader of the Department of Quality Management of the Ministry of Education and Training said that during the registration process, candidates will only choose to take the foreign language test or be exempted from this test. Once they have chosen to take the foreign language test, the system has been designed in such a way that candidates cannot choose the exemption box anymore. Therefore, candidates will not be able to upload their foreign language certificate to the system as proof of exemption from the test.

This is also a difference from previous years. Specifically, in 2024, candidates can use their foreign language certificates to register for exemption from the foreign language exam, which is considered a 10 point score in the high school graduation exam, and register for a foreign language subject when they want to use the exam results for university admission.

Regarding concerns about whether this will affect the candidates' chances of being admitted to university, the leader of the Department of Quality Management affirmed that it will not affect them, because when it comes to university admission, the general admission system will have instructions for candidates to do this. Candidates need to clearly understand the admission methods of the universities they are applying to in order to follow the instructions correctly.

Regarding foreign language certificates, both the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam this year have had notable changes. Specifically, candidates with foreign language certificates that meet the requirements are still allowed to use them for exam exemption but cannot be converted into 10 points for graduation recognition as before.

Regarding university admissions, according to the Ministry of Education and Training, in recent years, there has been a situation where some training institutions have abused the use of foreign language certificates in the admissions process, even using foreign language certificates as a criterion to determine the admission chances of candidates. Meanwhile, access to foreign language certificates varies between students in different regions. Therefore, the new admissions regulations stipulate that schools can convert foreign language certificates into foreign language subject scores to include in the admission subject group, but the foreign language subject scores converted from foreign language certificates have a weighted score that cannot exceed 50%. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, with this regulation, candidates can still make the most of their strengths to increase their chances of admission to university while still ensuring fairness.

NOTES WHEN REGISTERING FOR ELECTIVE EXAM

The exam regulations stipulate that candidates studying the 2018 General Education program can only register for the subjects they studied in grade 12. Therefore, during the registration process, candidates must note to only register for 2 subjects from the subjects they have chosen and have academic results in their grade 12 transcripts, and cannot register for subjects not on this list. For example, candidates who did not study computer science in grade 12 cannot choose this subject when registering for the exam.

In addition, in previous years, TS often made some mistakes that directly affected the students' rights that this year should avoid, that is, many students, although wishing to register for university admission, did not choose the university entrance exam box; or mistakenly chose the priority area box; incorrectly chose or did not choose the gender box...

The Ministry of Education and Training also notes: For students who are in grade 12 (not yet graduated from high school), they must take the math, literature and 2 subjects they have studied in grade 12 among the following subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, economic and legal education, information technology, industrial technology, agricultural technology, foreign languages. In case the independent student has not graduated from high school, there are subjects (for consideration of high school graduation recognition) from the previous year that are eligible for retention, if they want to retain any subject, they must record the score of that subject in section 15 of the registration form. However, the student can still choose to take the subject (for which they have requested to retain) to get the results for university and college admission.
