No longer limited to shopping habits at traditional markets or stores, consumers increasingly prefer online shopping because of its convenience, time savings, easy price comparison and flexibility in product returns.
Vietnam is currently in the Top 10 countries with the fastest e-commerce growth rate in the world. In 2024, the scale of Vietnam's e-commerce market reached more than 25 billion USD, an increase of 20% compared to the previous year, accounting for 9% of total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue nationwide.
In that context, maintaining only traditional sales forms will put businesses at risk of falling behind and losing the opportunity to reach potential customers. Therefore, the trend of combining traditional business and e-commerce is being chosen by many businesses and cooperatives as an effective "salvation" to expand market share, increase sales and maintain their position in the market.
As one of the typical OCOP units of the province, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Director of Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative (Tam Dao) shared: "Expanding distribution channels, bringing products to many different sales platforms and taking advantage of the power of e-commerce is an inevitable trend to help the cooperative expand its customer base and increase revenue".
Not only cooperating with a number of units to expand the dealer system in many provinces and cities, Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative also proactively built and maintained 3 fanpages and 3 separate websites to promote products. Recently, the Cooperative has also cooperated with famous Youtubers and Tiktokers to spread the brand and promote consumption on digital platforms.
Thanks to an effective multi-channel sales strategy, the cooperative's revenue in 2024 will reach nearly 1.9 billion VND, nearly double that of 2022. The cooperative currently creates stable jobs for 32 workers, with an average income of 5 - 8 million VND/person/month.
Not only Tam Dao Mushroom Cooperative, many other OCOP entities in the province such as Tam Dao Bee Joint Stock Company (Binh Xuyen), DBFood Joint Stock Company (Phuc Yen) ... are also promoting online sales channels in addition to distribution through traditional stores. Vinh Phuc OCOP products are not only available on e-commerce platforms such as Postmart.vn, Voso.vn but also appear on major platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, Tiktok ...

Recognizing the important role of the multi-channel sales model in consuming OCOP products, the province has recently had many practical support policies. In addition to building and supporting the construction of display and promotion points for OCOP products, the province also supports bringing thousands of products to major e-commerce platforms such as Postmart, Voso and supporting nearly 100 businesses to build their own e-commerce websites.
In addition to the advantages, OCOP entities are also facing many difficulties in implementing multi-channel sales, especially applying digital technology to business. Specifically, the digital capacity of many entities is still limited. Infrastructure, equipment, and digital skills in rural areas are still inadequate, lacking technical support teams and consulting on digitalization strategies suitable for each type of product.
To overcome these barriers, the province will continue to organize training courses on information technology and digital skills for farmers, businesses and cooperatives. At the same time, it will create conditions for OCOP entities to access major e-commerce platforms, expand consumption markets and improve competitiveness. Encouraging entities to actively apply social networks and other digital platforms to promote products, reach customers and build brands in a systematic manner.
In the context of increasingly deep digital transformation, multi-channel sales are no longer an option, but have become an inevitable requirement if OCOP products want to affirm their position in the large market. With the strong direction of the province, the support of all levels and sectors, and the efforts of each entity, OCOP products can completely reach far and establish a solid position in the market.
