Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, comrade Do Van Chien expressed his deep gratitude for the good feelings, enthusiastic support and noble international solidarity that international friends have given to Vietnam in the two resistance wars for national independence and reunification, as well as in the current cause of innovation, construction and protection of the Fatherland.

The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front affirmed that the Party, State and People of Vietnam always keep in mind the noble international solidarity and the valuable support of international friends during the most difficult and arduous years; becoming an important part of the history of the Vietnamese nation in the struggle for independence and freedom as well as in the movement for peace, justice and reason around the world.
Sharing Vietnam's outstanding socio-economic, political and diplomatic achievements after 50 years of national reunification and nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation, industrialization, modernization and international integration, comrade Do Van Chien said that Vietnam's current achievements are proof of the success of the renovation cause and the correctness of the path of building the country in the direction of socialism that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have chosen.
Comrade Do Van Chien said that in the context of the world undergoing extremely rapid, complex and unpredictable changes, the need to prevent conflicts and wars, and build a world of peace, equitable and sustainable development has become an urgent requirement and a fervent aspiration of progressive humanity around the world.
The Vietnamese people highly value and always uphold the values of peace, the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law on respect for independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-interference in the internal affairs of nations; not using force or threatening to use force in international relations and resolving disputes by peaceful means on the basis of international law.
Vietnam hopes that friends around the world will continue to promote the spirit of noble international solidarity, support and assist Vietnam on the path of protecting, building and developing the country; and hopes that international friends, especially friends from the United States, will continue to accompany the Party, State and People of Vietnam to join hands in overcoming and resolving the consequences of war in the spirit of closing the past and looking towards the future.
“With a consistent stance as a friend, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the international community, Vietnam always adheres to the goal of peace, national independence, democracy and social progress, together with other countries maintaining a peaceful, friendly and cooperative environment for development in the region and the world,” Comrade Do Van Chien emphasized.
At the meeting, delegates from the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Philippine-Vietnamese People's Solidarity Committee, the US Reconciliation and Development Foundation, and the World Peace Council shared their precious sentiments towards President Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese people; memories of April 30, 1975 and the great significance of Vietnam's April 30, 1975 Victory for the peace and national liberation movement of the world's people; and affirmed the important role of world people's solidarity in the struggle for peace, justice, and international solidarity.
Expressing his deep respect and gratitude for the support and companionship of friends and progressive people around the world for the Vietnamese people, Mr. Phan Anh Son, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, pledged to continue to promote and nurture the spirit of solidarity between the Vietnamese people and the people of the world to forever be a great source of strength, contributing to creating new miracles in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.
During their visit to Vietnam, the international delegation met with Ambassador Ton Nu Thi Ninh, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Peace and Development Foundation; visited the War Remnants Museum; attended a reception hosted by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee; and attended the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. The international delegation consisted of more than 100 people, members of the US Veterans for Peace (VFP), the US Fund for Reconciliation and Development (FRD), the US National Council on Aging (NCOS); and solidarity organizations with Vietnam from India, the Philippines, France, Japan, Hungary, etc.
