On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and Korean Prime Minister Kim Min Seok attended the Vietnam - Korea Economic Forum with the theme "Cooperation in developing production chains in the new era" and witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements between ministries, branches, and localities (of Vietnam) and Korean partners.
During the visit, the General Secretary delivered a policy speech at Yonsei University with the theme: “Enhancing connectivity and trust, promoting the Vietnam-Korea comprehensive strategic partnership, for peace, prosperity, cooperation and development”.
On this occasion, Professor Yoon Dong Sup, President of Yonsei University, awarded an honorary doctorate to General Secretary To Lam.
During the State visit to Korea, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the port city of Busan, the second largest economic center located in the Southeast of Korea.
Here, the General Secretary attended the launching ceremony of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan and the 30th Anniversary of the establishment of friendly cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan; visited Busan Port and listened to an introduction to 100% automated port operation technology.
During the meetings, the leaders of the two countries highly appreciated the remarkable development of bilateral relations since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992 and especially after upgrading the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022; affirming that the two countries are each other's leading important partners in all fields.
The two sides agreed that the achievements made over the past 30 years are a solid foundation and long-term driving force to consolidate and bring the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership into depth, substance, effectiveness and move to a new stage.
The leaders of Vietnam and South Korea issued a Joint Statement outlining key areas for the two sides to strengthen cooperation to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
In the context that Vietnam is in the process of building and implementing major development orientations for the country, General Secretary To Lam's State visit this time further demonstrates the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, active and comprehensive international integration, and is also an important foreign activity to promote the implementation of Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation.
