General Secretary To Lam hopes Busan will expand cooperation with Vietnam's coastal provinces.

(Dan Tri) - The General Secretary hopes that in the coming time, Busan will continue to expand cooperative relations with many other localities and cities of Vietnam, including coastal provinces of Vietnam.

During his State visit to Korea, on the morning of August 13, General Secretary To Lam visited Busan city and received Mr. Park Hyeong Jun - Mayor of Busan city.

On behalf of the leadership and people of Busan City, Mayor Park Hyeong Jun sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, for choosing Busan as a stopover during their first State visit to Korea and to attend the activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of cooperative relations between Busan and Ho Chi Minh City.

Expressing his delight at visiting the dynamic and hospitable coastal city of Busan, General Secretary To Lam emphasized that with its geographical location closest to Vietnam, Busan city maintains good relations with Vietnamese localities.

The General Secretary said that at the high-level talks with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, the two countries' top leaders reached a common understanding of supporting and being ready to create all favorable conditions for local cooperation.

Emphasizing that this is a strategic opportunity for Busan and potential localities of Vietnam to enhance substantive cooperation, General Secretary To Lam suggested that Busan city continue to expand cooperation with provinces/cities of Vietnam; support the business community to expand investment in Vietnam, especially in priority areas such as science and technology, satellite urban development, trade centers, logistics centers, infrastructure construction, tourism facilities; share experiences in development models, smart seaport operation systems located in one of Vietnam's key coastal economic zones; strengthen connections and support Vietnam in the film industry.

Expressing his appreciation and high agreement with the directions and directions of General Secretary To Lam on local cooperation between the two countries, Mayor Park Hyeong Jun pledged that Busan city will continue to closely coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces/cities of Vietnam to strengthen substantive cooperation in areas where the two sides have complementary strengths, contributing to the practical concretization of the high-level agreements between the two countries.

On the afternoon of August 13, General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended the inauguration ceremony of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Consul General in Busan Doan Phuong Lan said that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan is not only a new diplomatic agency, but also an open door, the starting point of new journeys.

Busan City has a large Vietnamese population living and studying, and the Vietnamese community here is increasingly integrating with the local community and attaching itself to the city's development. Therefore, the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan demonstrates the deep concern of the Party and State of Vietnam for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in the southern region of Korea.

Mayor of Busan Park Hyeong Jun said that in the context of the strong development of the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Busan has great significance, a vivid demonstration of the increasingly deep relationship between the two countries.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son presented Mr. Park Soo Kwan, former Honorary Consul General of Vietnam in Busan, with the Medal for Diplomacy.

Celebration of 30 years of establishing friendly and cooperative relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan city

Next, General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and leaders of Busan city, and representatives of the Korean Government attended the ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly and cooperative relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Busan city (Korea).

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Busan City Council Ahn Seong Min shared that exactly 30 years ago, the friendly and cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City - a major economic and cultural center of Vietnam - and Busan City - an important gateway to the Southeast of Korea - was officially established. It was not only an important diplomatic event, but also a milestone in opening a journey of exchange, connection and sustainable development between the two most dynamic cities of the two countries.

Representing the leaders and people of Ho Chi Minh City, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen said that Ho Chi Minh City is focusing on creating and building a regional and international economic, financial, service, trade, logistics, high-tech industry and marine tourism center. Meanwhile, Busan city - the leading port city of Korea and Northeast Asia, is not only famous as a center for logistics, shipbuilding industry, modern maritime, but also a city of knowledge, innovation, creativity and culture.

Speaking at the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that this is the result of more than 30 years of cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea, which has been upgraded within the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Today's ceremony is a vivid demonstration of the depth of the relationship between the two countries and affirms the indispensable role of local cooperation in the overall substantive cooperation between the two countries.

Over the years, Korea has made very positive contributions to the development of Vietnam. The presence of the delegation in Busan today is a concrete step to immediately implement the contents agreed between the two countries in the coming time.

According to the General Secretary, Busan city has a lot of potential to continue developing relations with Vietnam. The General Secretary hopes that in the coming time, Busan will continue to expand cooperative relations with many other localities and cities in Vietnam. Coastal provinces of Vietnam also have many opportunities to expand cooperation with Busan city.
