
Throughout, connecting from north to south
Vo Chi Cong Street plays the role of a backbone connecting key areas in the north of the city with the communes and wards of Dien Ban Dong, Hoi An Tay, Hoi An Dong, Duy Nghia, Thang An, Quang Phu, Nui Thanh, Chu Lai airport, Chu Lai port, Ky Ha port, etc.
Coastal and riverside urban tourism projects formed in recent times have connected the above localities to form a chain of high-end coastal and riverside tourism and services, and combined with the development of community tourism, promotion of traditional craft villages, and eco-tourism.
In addition to tourism, service and resort projects that have come into operation such as Nam Hoi An Resort (phase 1), Vinpearl Nam Hoi An... many strategic investors are researching and promoting investment in urban, service and tourism projects.
Notably, the city has agreed on major investment projects such as Chu Lai Urban Area (188.56ha), Mixed Urban Area south of Nguyen Tat Thanh axis (296ha), and Urban Area along Truong Giang river (74.05ha).
Currently, automobiles and multi-purpose mechanics are the core development at Chu Lai - Truong Hai Automobile Mechanical Industrial Park (243ha) invested by Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company ( Thaco ).
Mr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Head of the Management Board of Quang Nam Economic Zones and Industrial Parks, said that up to now, the industrial park has attracted 50 secondary projects in operation, including 12 projects in automobile manufacturing, assembly and distribution, 38 projects in the field of mechanical manufacturing and supporting industries; the occupancy rate is 80%, creating regular jobs for more than 13,000 workers.

Identifying the strategy of developing mechanical and supporting industry as a key business sector, Thaco has established THACO AUTO and THACO INDUSTRIES with the goal of forming a large-scale mechanical supporting industrial park in the Central region through cooperation, association and joint ventures with domestic and foreign partners. Thereby, manufacturing and trading mechanical products, supporting industrial products in and outside the automotive industry, participating in the global value chain.
Thaco has exported to 19 countries around the world, including some large and high-end markets such as the US (semi-trailers), Japan (airport luggage carts), Korea (specialized vehicle mechanical components, auto parts), Australia (mechanical components for mining), Sweden (agricultural accessories), Finland (conveyor belts)...
Automobile production is also present in Tam Thang Industrial Park (Ban Thach Ward). The Management Board of Quang Nam Economic Zones and Industrial Parks focuses on promoting and calling for automobile support industry projects such as the automobile spare parts production project of CTR Vina Co., Ltd., the automobile wire production project of Draexlmaier Automotive Vietnam Joint Stock Company, and the automobile support factory project using plastic extrusion of Oriental Commerce Vina Co., Ltd.
Strong development of aviation industry
In recent years, the number of passengers and goods passing through Chu Lai airport (Nui Thanh commune) has grown remarkably, contributing significantly to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of Da Nang city in particular and the country in general.

According to the Master Plan for the development of the national airport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 648/QD-TTg dated June 7, 2023, Chu Lai airport is planned to be an international airport, level 4F (the whole country has 3 airports with level 4F scale: Noi Bai, Long Thanh, Chu Lai).
Accordingly, the designed capacity of Chu Lai airport by 2030 is 10 million passengers/year, oriented to form an air transport logistics center; flight training and coaching center; aircraft maintenance and repair center at Chu Lai airport. To meet the demand for air passenger and cargo transportation in the coming period, investing, upgrading and expanding Chu Lai airport according to the approved plan is extremely necessary.
In Notice No. 135/TB-VPCP dated May 6, 2022 of the Government Office, the Prime Minister agreed on the policy of researching investment and exploitation of Chu Lai airport in the form of socialization, assigning the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (old) to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Transport to develop a project to socialize Chu Lai airport.
At the same time, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1121/QD-TTg dated September 22, 2022 to establish a working group to study the project of socialization and investment under the public-private partnership method to exploit Chu Lai airport ports.
The project of socializing investment in exploiting Chu Lai airport was directed by the People's Committee of Quang Nam province (formerly) to be developed and reported to the Ministry of Transport (formerly), Working Group 1121 of the Government (according to Decision No. 1121/QD-TTg) for consideration and implementation direction with a total capital demand of about 11,000 billion VND.
According to the Management Board of Quang Nam Economic Zones and Industrial Parks, in parallel with the implementation of the project of socializing investment in the exploitation of Chu Lai airport, the work of organizing and implementing the planning of the zoning of the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai airport and the Northwest Urban Area of Chu Lai airport is also being carried out synchronously. Accordingly, the Duty Free Zone associated with Chu Lai airport plays an important role in the local socio-economic development, creating a premise for the development of Chu Lai airport and the Chu Lai seaport system oriented to become a type I port.
Ports and logistics
The master plan for the development of Vietnam's seaport system for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1579/QD-TTg dated September 22, 2021. Quang Nam seaport is planned as a type I seaport, with a total waterfront length of about 9,300m, including 4 wharf areas.

Tam Hiep and Tam Hoa port areas have the function of directly serving Chu Lai Open Economic Zone and surrounding areas; there are container, general cargo, bulk cargo, liquid/gas cargo, passenger ports and ports serving other industries. Ship sizes have a tonnage of up to 50,000 tons.
Ky Ha and Tam Giang port areas have the function of directly serving Chu Lai Open Economic Zone, gradually converting their functions into port areas serving the Blue Whale gas-electricity project chain; with general ports, liquid/gas cargo ports, passenger ports (serving the route from the mainland to the island). Ship size up to 20,000 tons.
The People's Committee of Quang Nam province (old) has coordinated with the Ministry of Transport (formerly) to carry out research, survey, and propose a detailed planning for the land and seaport area of Quang Nam. In addition, a scientific workshop was organized to collect opinions on the research results, propose a detailed planning for the development of the land and seaport area of Quang Nam in the period of 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, and propose investment in a deep-water seaport channel according to the plan in November 2022.
The workshop received many useful comments from domestic and foreign experts and specialized agencies. The Vietnam Maritime Administration is receiving and incorporating them into the planning. The Ministry of Construction has approved the Detailed Planning for the Development of Quang Nam Seaport Land and Water Area in Decision 310/QD-BXD dated March 25, 2025 as a basis for implementing the investment project.
Since 2014, Chu Lai - Truong Hai Port Industrial and Logistics Park has been invested and put into operation by Thaco. Up to now, the project has attracted 8 domestic and foreign secondary investors operating in the fields of freight transport, providing warehouse systems, trading, distributing asphalt, storing, and transferring cement... with an occupancy rate of 47%, creating jobs for more than 1,000 workers.
Since 2012, Thaco has invested and put into operation Chu Lai port with 836m wharf with the capacity to receive ships up to 50,000DWT.
Thaco is proposing an investment project to build Cua Lo channel; a bridge connecting Tam Hiep and Tam Hoa wharf areas; a road connecting Viet Han Industrial Park with Vo Chi Cong road under a build-transfer contract (BT contract). The project will seek opinions from the Ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Construction, Agriculture and Environment, and Finance, then carry out investment procedures and select investors to implement the project according to regulations.
