Strong growth

In the first months of the year, Lao Cai organized hundreds of cultural, artistic and sports activities, unique and rich Spring festivals such as the Thuong Temple Festival (Lao Cai city), the Going to the Field Festival, the Gau Tao Festival in the highlands, the Bac Ha White Plateau Festival... attracting a large number of visitors, contributing to increasing revenue from accommodation, food and beverage and transportation services.

In particular, in March, along with the warm weather of Sa Pa, the plum and pear blossoms in Bac Ha and Si Ma Cai bloomed brilliantly, the locality attracted a large number of international tourists to visit and experience with nearly 90 thousand arrivals, an increase of 12.5% ​​compared to the previous month, showing the right direction of Lao Cai in developing green tourism, promoting sustainable tourism.

According to the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the total number of visitors to the locality in the first 3 months of 2025 reached over 3 million; of which, international visitors reached 257,717 and domestic visitors 2,784,473, an increase of 50% over the same period in 2024.

Sa Pa town continued to affirm its position with about 500,000 visitors; Lao Cai city welcomed about 350,000 visitors; Bac Ha district about 79,000 visitors; Bao Yen district about 183,000 visitors; Bat Xat district about 29,000 visitors... Total revenue from tourists reached about 10,235 billion VND, up 60%. This growth shows the strong attraction of Lao Cai tourism, especially community cultural, spiritual and resort destinations.

The above figures also show that Lao Cai tourism is on the path of strong recovery, with impressive growth in both domestic and international markets. The diversity of tourism products, from cultural tourism, green tourism to high-end resort tourism, has met the increasingly diverse needs of tourists.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai, the locality aims to welcome 10 million visitors, with total revenue from tourists reaching VND44,750 billion in 2025. With the current growth momentum, this goal is completely feasible, especially when the locality continues to promote activities and improve the quality of tourism services in the province.

Building attractive tourism products

In the coming time, Lao Cai will focus on implementing new products to stimulate tourism through a series of attractive events, contributing to continuing to promote the potential and strengths of each locality to tourists.

Many exciting activities and events will take place in some key tourist areas of Lao Cai. In April, in Sa Pa, the Fansipan Rose Festival 2025 with the theme "Brilliant among the clouds" will take place in the 50,000m² rose valley of Sun World Fansipan Legend.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Vu, Deputy Director of Sun World Fansipan Legend Tourist Area said: Not only domestic ancient rose varieties, the festival also gathers many "treasures" of the rose world, including the most expensive flower varieties such as Juliet, Aoi rose, Black Baccarat, Catalina, Golden Celebration, Maurice Utrillo, Rouge Royale, Éclair, Spirit of Freedom... All are being meticulously cared for, ready to bloom this summer, bringing a space full of fragrance and color to visitors, welcoming a vibrant and inspiring summer.
