Prudential summarizes 5 years of implementing the "Safe to School" project with Inter-provincial Traffic Safety Festival

After 5 years, the “Safe to School” project increased the helmet wearing rate from 42% to 78%, helping 15,000 students at 23 schools in 6 provinces better understand traffic safety.

After 5 years of implementation, the “Safe Schooling” project of Prudential in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Committee , the Ministry of Education and Training and the Asia Injury Prevention Foundation (AIP) has achieved positive results when recording the average helmet wearing rate of students in project schools increased from 42% to 78% and their level of understanding of road traffic also increased from 50% to 75% (*) , through reaching 15,000 students, 580 teachers and thousands of parents at 23 primary schools in 6 provinces.

On March 22, 2025, the first inter-provincial Traffic Safety Festival organized by Prudential Vietnam Life Insurance Company Limited (“Prudential”) in coordination with the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and local partners attracted the participation of more than 500 students, parents, teachers and leaders at all levels and departments of Gia Lai, Quang Ngai and Yen Bai provinces.

Students, teachers and parents from 7 project schools from Gia Lai, Yen Bai and Quang Ngai provinces gathered at the Children's House in Pleiku city, Gia Lai province to attend the Traffic Safety Festival.

Coming to the festival, students participated in a series of exciting fun activities, and at the same time, competed in traffic safety knowledge to find the Super Safe Kids. This is the first time the festival has been organized on an inter-provincial scale. Three excellent teams from Nguyen Trai Primary School, Tinh Binh Primary School and Viet Thanh Primary & Secondary School surpassed thousands of students to represent three provinces to compete at the festival. Through the event, students confidently applied traffic safety knowledge and skills after many months of the "Safe Going to School" project being implemented in schools.

The final round consisted of 3 parts: Warm-up, Overcoming obstacles and Finishing. Through the challenges, the students not only practiced and developed knowledge and skills related to the topic of traffic safety that had been equipped through the project, but also practiced teamwork skills, handling situations and had the opportunity to exchange and learn from other schools. Notably, 3 small projects spreading the message of traffic safety to the community were implemented by the students themselves with initiatives that created sustainable and long-term impacts. After 3 exciting and interesting parts, the team of students from Viet Thanh Primary & Secondary School - Yen Bai Province won and was honored as Super Safe Kids for the 2024-2025 school year.

In addition to the competition, teachers, parents and students present at the event participated in a series of physical and intellectual games related to the topic of traffic safety called "Super Kids in Action" with the support of nearly 40 Prudential Vietnam volunteers. In particular, students and teachers were transformed into the animated world of the character Gumball through virtual reality (VR) technology to find their way to school safely. The event provided a useful and interesting playground, helping students equip themselves with knowledge and skills to protect their own safety when participating in road traffic.

The Inter-Provincial Traffic Safety Festival is a meaningful event to summarize the 5-year journey of the Safe School Project, contributing to the success of the journey to protect children on the way to school. After 5 years of implementation, the project has reached 15,000 students, 580 teachers and thousands of parents at 23 primary schools in 6 provinces and cities. The positive results of the project have been recorded with the average helmet wearing rate of students in the project schools increasing from 42% to 78%, and the level of understanding of road traffic among students also increasing from 50% to 75% (*) . 13 school gate areas have been renovated and the safety level has been raised from 1 star (Danger level) to 3-4 stars (Safety level) based on the International Road Performance Assessment (IRAP).
