This morning, January 17, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Trieu Phong district (Quang Tri) organized two "Zero-VND Markets - Compassionate Spring" at two locations, the Sac Tu Tinh Quang Pagoda and Bich Khe Pagoda, to give to 500 households in 5 communes and towns of Trieu Phong district.
The total value of each gift is 1 million VND, including 200,000 VND in cash and 30 essential items for Tet such as banh chung, banh tet, soy sauce, sugar, ginger jam, vermicelli, candy, eggs, vegetables...

Venerable Thich Nguyen Man, Head of the Buddhist Executive Committee of Trieu Phong district, shared that this banh chung does not have salty filling but has the compassionate hearts of Buddhists near and far, some contributing leaves, others cans of green beans, firewood... to light up the warmth of spring. There is nothing like sharing and love. To receive these gifts, a day before, many Buddhists joined hands to wrap 1,000 banh chung in the cold to radiate the energy of love and warm spring to give to the people.
Because the gifts were numerous and heavy, the organizers arranged many wheelbarrows and Buddhists to help people carry the gifts home. Leaving the market, everyone was smiling and happy.
Ms. Vo Thi Bach (72 years old, residing in An Mo village, Trieu Long commune) shared: “My family is short of people, my daughter is married far away so now I live alone. Receiving this gift makes me very happy because this Tet I have more cakes and fruits to serve guests.”
In addition to this market, it is expected that at 9pm every night from January 18 until Lunar New Year, Venerable Thich Nguyen Man and Buddhists will go along the streets to give banh chung and Tet gifts to laborers, disadvantaged people, homeless people... they encounter on the street.
It is known that the zero-dong market has been organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Trieu Phong district for many years.
