Over the past week, the live hog market across the country has been generally stable in many localities. However, some provinces and cities have recorded a slight price decrease of VND1,000 to VND2,000/kg.

In the North

The price of live pigs remained at VND67,000/kg in the provinces of Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Nam Dinh, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hanoi.

Some localities recorded prices of 66,000 VND/kg. Specifically, Bac Giang, Hung Yen, Thai Binh and Tuyen Quang provinces all reduced by 1,000 VND/kg compared to last week, bringing the price to 66,000 VND/kg. Meanwhile, Ha Nam and Ninh Binh kept this price unchanged.

In the Central Highlands region

Last week, the live pig market in the Central and Central Highlands regions recorded a variety of prices.

Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces have prices of 67,000 VND/kg. Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue and Khanh Hoa all stay at 70,000 VND/kg.

In Quang Tri, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai, the price remained at 69,000 VND/kg. Binh Dinh had a higher price, reaching 71,000 VND/kg.

Notably, many provinces recorded high anchor prices, such as Dak Lak at 72,000 VND/kg, Ninh Thuan at 73,000 VND/kg.

Lam Dong and Binh Thuan have the highest price in the region at 74,000 VND/kg, but also recorded a slight decrease of 1,000 VND/kg during the week.

On May 3, FAGO FARM Vietnam High-Tech Livestock Development Joint Stock Company started construction of a pig farm project in Ia Me commune (Chu Prong district, Gia Lai province). The project has a total area of over 30 hectares with a scale of 2,400 sows and 30,000 pigs, with a total investment of 300 billion VND.

Mr. Nguyen Kiet, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FAGO FARM Vietnam, said that in addition to the field of animal feed production, the Company has recently focused on building closed-chain pig farms, proactively solving product output.

Investing in large-scale livestock projects applying high technology is an important step of the Company to realize the strategy of developing modern agriculture, increasing added value and sustainability in the locality, Agriculture and Environment Newspaper reported.

In the Southern region

Last week, the price of live pigs in the South was commonly at 74,000 VND/kg in many provinces and cities such as Binh Phuoc, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Long An, Vinh Long, Hau Giang, Bac Lieu and Soc Trang.

However, some other localities in the region have adjusted prices down. The provinces of Dong Nai, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, An Giang, Can Tho, Kien Giang, Ca Mau, Tien Giang, Tra Vinh and Ben Tre all reduced prices by VND1,000/kg, bringing the price to VND74,000/kg; An Giang alone is VND73,000/kg.

Dong Thap is the locality that recorded the deepest decrease, with 2,000 VND/kg, currently trading at 73,000 VND/kg.
