At this time, the provincial Department of Education and Training is directing educational institutions to carry out many meaningful activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025. This is an important occasion for the entire sector to arouse the love of reading, develop a reading culture in the community, contribute to building a learning society, and foster personality and ideals for the young generation.

Educating students about life values ​​through books

 

Implementing the direction of the Department of Education and Training, the Departments of Education and Training, educational institutions, and Vocational Education - Continuing Education Centers (VET) in the province have been organizing many diverse and rich response activities, suitable to the actual conditions in the locality. In particular, the focus is on a series of activities to promote and introduce books, build friendly reading spaces, organize competitions and contests related to books, encourage students, teachers, and parents to participate in the spirit of: Responding to the Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025, in order to continue developing the reading movement in the whole industry, aiming at the goal of building a learning society, forming reading habits and skills for the young generation, thereby arousing passion, promoting thinking, creativity and nurturing positive life values ​​for students.

At Hai Xuan Secondary School (Hai Hau), since mid-April, the school has organized many creative activities, attracting the participation of many teachers and students. The highlight of the school's activities is the organization of the Reading Festival with many rich activities such as: book collection contest, introducing good books, displaying beautiful bookshelves, creating video clips introducing books; coordinating with Nam Dinh Provincial Library to organize for students to read books on mobile vehicles. In particular, on this occasion, the school received more than 100 sets of textbooks in the project of donating textbooks to poor students with the message "Giving knowledge, receiving love" from units of Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School - Hanoi National University of Education, Doan Thi Diem Secondary School (Hanoi), Charity Fund...

The Book Festival at Hai Xuan Secondary School has truly become a widespread cultural activity that contributes to spreading positive messages to students. During the festival, students from the whole school together displayed and introduced books by topic, wrote reviews about their favorite books, competed in storytelling based on books, drew illustrations of book content, and participated in games related to knowledge from books. Sharing about the meaning of the activity, Nguyen Hoang Ngan, a student of class 9A2, excitedly said: “I am very happy to participate in the school's Book Festival. From the mobile library, I have found many good books that are suitable for my age. I hope there will be more interesting and useful activities about books so that I can find more good books, multiplying my love for books.”

Not only at the secondary level, activities in response to Book Day and Reading Culture are also being developed and spread by teachers from preschool level to contribute to forming and nurturing a love of books for children from a young age. At Nghia Son Kindergarten (Nghia Hung), the Book Festival took place on April 17 with many attractive activities, suitable for children's psychological characteristics. The school has prepared more than 1,000 books suitable for preschool children such as fairy tales, folk comics, life skills education, and especially stories with pictures about the history of the Vietnam People's Army and the Day of Southern Liberation and National Reunification (April 30). Children participated in group activities such as assembling a map of Vietnam, participating in the dance performance “Aspirations of Youth”, learning about the meaning of the Book Festival, visiting the exhibition “Length of History”, observing models of weapons and equipment that our army and people used during the resistance war, painstakingly created by the school’s teaching staff.

The joyful and lively atmosphere of the festival helps children approach books naturally, arousing their curiosity and love of exploring the world around them. The activity "Reading with parents" also creates moments of emotional attachment between children and their family members, while contributing to building the habit of reading books from preschool age. Teacher Pham Hien Giang, Principal of the school shared: "We believe that love of books needs to be nurtured from the first years of life. Through close and lively activities, children will form language skills, thinking ability and feel the good values ​​of life".

Join hands to build a reading society

 

In response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025, the Department of Education and Training has issued an official dispatch directing educational institutions to inform, promote and organize activities of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in accordance with their functions, tasks and actual situation in localities and units, focusing from April 15 to May 2. Implementing the direction of the Department of Education and Training, schools have focused on innovating school library activities, building flexible classroom bookcases, promoting the application of technology in searching and exploiting electronic resources. Many schools have organized study sessions at the library, outdoor reading periods, creating an open, friendly and attractive reading space. Units also increase activities to guide reading skills and methods suitable for the subjects (guidance on using libraries, using classroom bookcases; reading skills, preserving and circulating books; guidance on skills to search, exploit and use information on the internet in a useful and safe way; advice on how to use e-books, e-libraries...).

On this occasion, the Department of Education and Training launched the "Nam Dinh Province Reading Culture Ambassador 2025" Contest for primary, secondary and high school students across the province. The contest took place from May 1 to May 7, aiming to inspire creativity and passion, helping students express their thoughts, feelings and initiatives about books as well as spreading the spirit of reading to the community. The content of the entries focused on sharing favorite books, telling stories of change from books and proposing initiatives to promote reading culture at home, school and society. Outstanding entries will be selected to be sent to the Provincial Library to participate in the final round. The contest is the highlight of spreading reading culture to schools across the province.

Diverse activities in response to Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 from schools and the support of parents and students are practically spreading the love of books and building a sustainable reading culture in the community; especially helping to effectively nurture reading habits and love of books for the young generation.
