The countryside "changes clothes"

Mr. Nguyen Minh Sy - Chairman of Que Chau Commune People's Committee said: "With the focused leadership and direction of the Steering Committee of the National Target Program on New Rural Construction (NTM) of the district and the District People's Committee, along with the high determination of the Party Committee, the Commune People's Committee and all cadres and people, up to now Que Chau has achieved encouraging results, the most impressive achievement is that Que Chau has reached the new rural commune finish line in 2019.

Infrastructure has been invested in and built; the work of building a new rural cultural life in each household, village and hamlet has been implemented and brought many results; political security and social order and safety have been maintained.

In the process of implementing the construction of new rural communes and model new rural villages, Que Chau always takes the motto "The State and the people work together" to effectively carry out tasks. The highlight in recent years is the model "The 5th Day of Mass Mobilization" which has created a great influence among the masses, promoting democracy at the grassroots level.

In 2023, the commune will focus on implementing the construction of basic works such as: Xuan Thuong village electric pumping station, Ong Hieu dam, Commune police office, Cang Dong village iron pipe bridge, Ngo 4 Dinh canal route to Ba Yen alley in Dong Thanh village, overcoming landslides in the reservoir of Pumping station 2B, and solidifying road DH27.

At the same time, mobilize land clearance for the DH12 route through Phuoc Duc village, maintain and repair traffic routes, build green - clean - beautiful environmental landscapes, flower routes, shady green tree routes...

Up to now, the infrastructure system in the commune has been basically invested to serve the needs of travel and socio-economic development. Notably, the system of commune and inter-commune roads has been asphalted to 100%; village and hamlet roads have been hardened to 100%; alleys and hamlets are clean and not muddy in the rainy season to more than 70%; main intra-field roads have been hardened, making it convenient for motor vehicles to travel.

Schools have been invested in and upgraded to ensure teaching and learning; medical stations have been repaired and upgraded to meet the needs of initial medical examination and treatment for the people. The commune cultural house has been invested in, cultural - artistic, physical education - sports activities have increasingly developed; the rate of cultural families has reached 96.25%; 7/7 villages have been proposed for recognition as cultural villages. Administrative reform and digital transformation have been effectively promoted to meet the requirements and aspirations of organizations and people in the area.

Many households have invested in building new houses, fences, donating land, contributing money to build the new rural program.... Thanks to that, the face of Que Chau's countryside has changed a lot, the material and spiritual life of the people has been constantly improved.

Towards advanced rural communes

Mr. Sy said that Que Chau commune always identifies economic development and increasing people's income as one of the important contents, bringing sustainable stability, both as a driving force and a goal to build a new rural area with depth and quality.

Therefore, in recent years, in addition to building and promulgating mechanisms and policies to encourage infrastructure construction and socio-economic development, the commune has also increased the application of science and technology in production; vocational training, coaching, and guiding people to effectively implement production processes, care, and pest control.

The locality restructures the agricultural sector and agricultural production towards improving productivity, quality and sustainable efficiency. Encourages people to convert ineffective rice-growing land to intensive bean (peanut) cultivation.

Currently, Que Chau has 98% of farmers applying nylon cover in bean production for high yield and not using herbicides to have clean beans and clean oil. From there, the commune has expanded the production method according to VietGAP standards and traced the growing area code, improving the quality of Dat Que Sesame Oil products to meet 3-star OCOP standards.

Taking advantage of the forest, Que Chau commune has increased propaganda and mobilized people to renovate mixed gardens, develop garden economy and farm economy with nearly 20 households participating.

Along with production development, the commune also encourages and creates conditions for households to develop and expand trade, services and construction. In the area, there are businesses, trading establishments and foreign-invested garment companies that are developing stably, attracting hundreds of local workers.

Local trade and service activities have also developed, with stable prices. Among them, Dang Market attracts more than 200 business households, trading and trading, ensuring consumer goods for the people.

By the end of 2023, the average income per capita of Que Chau commune is estimated to reach 56 million VND; poverty reduction work has received attention, helping the poverty rate decrease to 0.42%.
