Reorganizing production in rural areas

Since 2010, Dak Nong has identified agriculture as one of the advantages in building new rural areas. In particular, the province has promoted the development of cooperative models, especially agricultural production cooperatives, to help reorganize production in rural areas.

A typical example is Binh Minh Production - Trade - Service Cooperative (Binh Minh Cooperative) in Ea Po commune, Cu Jut district. The cooperative gathers more than 1,000 farmers to produce 1,420 hectares of sustainable pepper according to the value chain, with an output of over 3,030 tons/year. Of which, 250 households have 484 hectares of pepper certified by Rainforest Alliance.

Mr. Ngo Van Nam in Nam Dong commune, Cu Jut district said that in 2017, he joined Binh Minh Cooperative. By 2023, Mr. Nam joined the Project to promote sustainable production and trade of Vietnamese pepper.

Thanks to that, he has changed his perception and production methods. Currently, his nearly 1 hectare pepper garden has a stable yield of about 3 tons per year, and the selling price is always higher than normal pepper.

“Thanks to applying sustainable farming methods, my pepper garden has stable productivity and superior quality, helping the product sell at a higher price than regular pepper,” Mr. Nam shared.

Mr. Le Anh Son, Director of Binh Minh Cooperative said: “Every year, the Cooperative organizes training courses for farmers, helping them improve their knowledge and skills in production and sales, thereby increasing the value of their products. This is an important factor that helps Dak Nong farmers increase their income and rise from agricultural production.”

To date, Dak Nong has developed 259 cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector. Cooperatives not only help farmers improve crop productivity but also promote the export of agricultural products such as coffee, pepper, macadamia, sachi, passion fruit, gac fruit, etc.

Dak Nong farmers have conquered many demanding markets such as: Europe, China, Korea, Taiwan, West Asia... The export value of agricultural products of Dak Nong cooperatives reaches over 3 million USD per year.

Cooperatives play an important role in implementing production organization criteria in building new rural areas, helping to create a strong, equal and sustainable production community.
