Vietnam will have a Data Center with a capacity of over 100MW, also known as super large scale, equivalent to large Data Centers in the world.
Viettel is committed to implementing the Project with the highest speed, discipline and quality. Phase 1 of the Project is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2026 and the entire Project will be completed before 2030. The project marks a step forward for Vietnam's data infrastructure, and was started on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (1975 - 2025). The project is deployed on an area of nearly 4 hectares, with a total designed capacity of up to 140 MW of electricity with about 10,000 racks. This is the first data center in Vietnam to reach a capacity of over 100 MW, also known as super large scale, equivalent to large data centers in the world.
Tan Phu Trung Data Center is designed and operated according to Uptime Tier III international standards. The center has an average power density of 10kW/rack, 2.5 times higher than the average in Vietnam. The highest rack capacity is up to 60kW, meeting the high-performance computing needs of large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) models and applications.
To achieve this high power density, Tan Phu Trung Data Center applies advanced cooling technologies and an intelligent management system based on artificial intelligence "made by Viettel". By applying new technologies, advanced materials and efficient operations, the Data Center is expected to achieve a power usage effectiveness (PUE) index of less than 1.4.
The groundbreaking of Tan Phu Trung Data Center is an important milestone in Viettel's journey to create national digital infrastructure, demonstrating its commitment to pioneering and leading the way in building a digital society in Vietnam. The scale, technology and sustainability of the project are consistent with the orientations in Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation and Decision 36/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on Information and Communications Infrastructure Planning.
Placing high hopes on this mega-project of Viettel, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan emphasized: "The project of the Data Storage Service Center combined with high-tech research and development invested by Viettel Group, located in Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park, Tan Phu Trung Commune, Cu Chi District, is one of the largest projects in the region.
This event took place in the context that Ho Chi Minh City is excitedly organizing activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, and the City is actively and resolutely implementing Resolution No. 57 of the Politburo.
According to Mr. Vo Van Hoan, the operation of the super-scale data center in Cu Chi is not only of strategic significance to Viettel but also creates a strong driving force for the City in developing digital infrastructure, building smart cities and digital government. This center will promote the application of advanced technologies such as: AI, 5G network, cloud computing, IoT, Blockchain, network security and Big Data; at the same time, contribute to forming an innovative ecosystem, improving the quality of digital human resources and creating high-value jobs to serve the development of the digital economy - digital society of the City.
Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, emphasized: The super-large-scale Data Center in Tan Phu Trung is not a single project. This is a strategically important piece in the overall picture of digital infrastructure that Viettel is continuing to build - an ecosystem in which data is stored, transmitted, processed and protected in the safest way. Viettel's digital infrastructure pieces include 15 Data Centers operating in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, and Binh Duong.
This year, Viettel will complete 20,000 5G broadcasting stations, ensuring coverage of 95% of urban residential areas nationwide. The superior connection speed infrastructure and super-scale computing infrastructure are ready to provide comprehensive services to people, businesses and the Government.
