At the Data Center & Cloud Infrastructure (DCCI) Summit 2025, Mr. Le Ba Tan, CEO of Viettel IDC, commented that Vietnam has advantages in relatively cheap electricity prices, abundant land funds... when developing data centers.
"Our data center construction cost has a huge advantage, with an investment of about 6.7 million USD/MW. The common rate in the region is about 8.5 million USD/MW, the highest rate is 11.2 million USD/MW. Our investment only costs about half the cost compared to many other countries," Mr. Le Ba Tan analyzed.
Therefore, Vietnam's server hosting service is 40 - 80% lower than other countries in the region and the world. This factor creates competitiveness, helps to approach partners and is very attractive to investors when they need to place server services in Vietnam.

In Southeast Asia, there is a situation of oversupply, while in Vietnam, demand is currently exceeding the capacity of data center infrastructure by 38%. Vietnam also aims to have 15 submarine fiber optic cables by 2030. These are great opportunities for service providers to continue to develop and be ready to invest.

Mr. Le Ba Tan also pointed out that many bigtechs such as Google, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft... have placed data centers in Asia based on the shift to areas with many customers and large markets, while complying with data protection requirements of countries. Vietnam will not be out of this trend.
AI is also driving the growth in demand for data center capacity. McKinsey forecasts that about 70% of data center activity will be devoted to advanced AI applications by 2030, including direct and indirect applications.
The global data center market is forecast to reach approximately 345 billion USD in 2025 and continue to maintain a steady growth rate. In Vietnam, the data center market size is forecast to reach more than 1 billion USD by 2029, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.8%.
As the green development trend is increasingly widespread, in addition to correctly identifying the needs and types of services to deploy data center design, suppliers are forced to pay more attention to meeting technical standards, choosing advanced technology, optimizing operational performance, saving energy, and applying renewable energy to reduce carbon emissions.

With the goal of leading the trend and connecting the technology community, DCCI Summit 2025 not only continues the story of the digital journey of businesses, but also shares a comprehensive and practical perspective: from physical infrastructure, technology platforms, to application layers with an overall infrastructure strategy. Three thematic sessions - Data Center Room, Cloud Room and AI Room have suggested solutions to the problem of digital transformation - green transformation for organizations and businesses.
After 4 years of organization, DCCI Summit has become the largest annual technology event in the data center and cloud computing industry in Vietnam, with the participation of 8,500 attendees, 120 speakers, and 100 technology exhibition booths.
DCCI Summit 2025 organized by Viettel IDC is expected to continue on June 26 in Ho Chi Minh City, connecting the business community, sharing the latest technology trends and promoting the process of real and sustainable digital transformation in Vietnam.
