Promoting the effectiveness of Workers' Month 2024

Every year, in the Labor Month of Long An province, the Labor Federation (LDLĐ) and all levels of Trade Unions (LĐ) in the province have many exciting and practical activities to take care of the lives of workers, thereby arousing the spirit of solidarity, responsibility and pride of each worker. In particular, in 2024, the Labor Month took place successfully and there were activities organized for the first time, creating an impression and spreading effect among workers.

The activities of the 2024 Labor Month were organized enthusiastically in conjunction with activities to celebrate International Labor Day (May 1), President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19) and respond to the Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene. The Provincial Labor Federation mobilized social resources and those of employers to take care of jobs, material and spiritual life of union members, employees, civil servants (VC), and laborers.

The Provincial Federation of Labor successfully organized the Launching Ceremony of Labor Month and responded to the Action Month on Labor Safety and Hygiene in 2024. In the program, the Provincial Federation of Labor presented 100 gifts to workers in difficult circumstances, 10 gifts to workers who had work accidents and suffered disabilities of 61% or more, each gift worth 1 million VND; presented symbolic plaques of 50 Trade Union Shelters to Trade Unions at all levels.

The launching ceremony also included a folk cake exhibition, a union member welfare program, labor law consultation and reproductive health care, and a cultural exchange program called “Labor Voice” with the participation of more than 200 union members. In addition, 230 union members and employees participated in the “Worker’s Footsteps - Healthy for Labor Production” Running Race at Tan An City Park.

As part of the 2024 Labor Month activities, the Thank You to Workers program was organized by the Provincial Labor Confederation at 20 enterprises in the province. Of which, the Provincial Labor Confederation directly organized the program at 10 enterprises; the Trade Union at the grassroots level directly coordinated with the grassroots Trade Union to organize and the enterprises to organize the program at 10 enterprises.

The program aims to recognize and express gratitude for the contributions of employees to the production and business activities of enterprises in particular and the development of the province in general. The companionship, attachment to enterprises, enthusiasm for labor, and efforts to participate in innovative initiatives in production of employees contribute to helping enterprises overcome difficulties and develop production and business.

Ms. Nguyen Vo Thuy Chau - employee of Hang Vy Company Limited (Can Giuoc District), shared: "Thanks to the attention and care of the Union and the company, I have somewhat overcome the current difficulties. In response, I have worked hard, actively competed in labor, production, and improved my skills to work more effectively."

In particular, the Provincial Federation of Labor in coordination with Long An Radio and Television Station implemented the May Radio program - Connecting Workers, bringing a new, close and practical "breeze" to workers with 5 episodes. The program has the following content: Connecting Workers and connecting emotions. In which, connecting workers is an activity of listening to workers share about their life stories and their careers to spread positive energy, enthusiasm for labor and production, workers in difficult circumstances are supported by the Union to rise up in life, ...; connecting emotions is an activity of interacting with guest singers and enjoying entertaining music melodies, allowing workers to participate in the mini game "Listen to workers sing" and receive gifts from the program.

Chairman of the Provincial Federation of Labor - Nguyen Van Qui affirmed: “This is a new program, organized for the first time to create a playground for union members and workers in the province to participate in, exchange and share their thoughts and feelings about life, life stories, workers' jobs and express their passion for singing. With 5 broadcasts, the program listened to many interesting and useful stories of workers as well as attracted a large number of union members and workers to follow; thereby truly spreading to become a meeting place for workers in May 2024 and needs to be promoted, continue to innovate content in a more lively and attractive direction in the Labor Month of 2025 and the following years".

Unions at all levels also focus on taking good care of union members and employees on the occasion of Labor Month 2024 with many practical and effective activities at the grassroots level. These include organizing visits to union members and employees in difficult circumstances, those who have lost their jobs, have reduced working hours, have occupational accidents, or have occupational diseases; praising and rewarding groups and individuals for studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and lifestyle; examining and consulting on reproductive health, giving out medical examination vouchers; organizing cultural, artistic, physical education and sports activities; organizing the "Union Member Welfare" program to provide services, sell discounted goods;... Thereby, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere among union members and employees.

In the 2024 Labor Month, the whole province had 100% of the trade unions directly above the grassroots level and 1,017 enterprise-level trade unions organizing Labor Month activities, reaching 161% of the target assigned by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor. Thereby, trade unions at all levels cared for and supported union members and workers with a total amount of nearly 5.4 billion VND.

Many practical and meaningful activities

Implementing the direction of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the Provincial Confederation of Labor has developed and implemented a plan to organize activities for the Workers' Month in 2025 with the theme "Vietnamese workers take the lead in entering a new era" with many practical and meaningful activities to continue affirming that the working class is the pioneering force in the cause of national innovation, creative labor, confidently entering a new era - the era of national development; at the same time, raising awareness and responsibility of the whole society in caring for and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests, improving living and working conditions of workers, honoring and promoting the role of workers in the new development stage of the country.

During the 2025 Workers' Month, all levels of the Union will focus on implementing a number of activities such as the Creative Workers' Program, confidently entering the new era; the May Dialogue Program and the Party-Workers - Workers' Forum; the Thank You Program for Workers; organizing the Peak Month for developing union members, establishing grassroots unions; introducing and developing worker party members; the Propaganda Program, raising awareness of union members and workers.

Union members, workers and laborers are cared for spiritually through cultural and artistic activities.

Accordingly, the Provincial Federation of Labor organized the Launching Ceremony of Workers' Month - Month of Action on Labor Safety and Hygiene in 2025 in conjunction with activities to celebrate the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025); the Thank You to Workers program, the forum to meet and dialogue between Workers for Enterprises, Enterprises for Workers at Enterprises.

In addition, the Provincial Federation of Labor guides, directs and urges all levels of unions to carry out activities to care for union members and workers on the occasion of Labor Month 2025; coordinates in organizing a thematic voter contact program between provincial National Assembly deputies and workers; coordinates in implementing activities to inspect and supervise the implementation of policies and laws on labor and unions; coordinates with the Provincial People's Committee to organize a conference to commend and reward excellent workers;...

The Provincial Federation of Labor will organize a conference to commend and reward typical examples in "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle"; at the same time, organize propaganda and talks on policies and reproductive health care for female workers in enterprises and worker dormitories.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Qui, in this year's Workers' Month, in addition to the planned activities, the Provincial Federation of Labor will pay special attention to directing all levels of the Union to advise the Party Committees at the same level to organize the Party-Worker Forum - Workers-Party Forum before the Party Congresses at all levels to listen to and solve workers' problems; absorb and implement the Party's instructions.

With its core role, the Trade Union continues to affirm its position in caring for union members' interests, creating solidarity and trust among union members, employees and the consensus and support of the social community, contributing to creating more motivation for union members, employees, especially employees at enterprises to strive to overcome difficulties, work creatively, contribute to the development of enterprises, promote economic growth of the country and the province./.
