“There are things that are very ordinary but not everyone can do them; there are ordinary people who do their assigned work well and become extraordinary” are the words that writer Ho Van wrote about Ms. Pham Thi Le Huyen (Dong Thap) in the work “The person who sows smiles for students with especially difficult circumstances in the remote area of Thap Muoi” published in the Van Nghe newspaper of the Dong Thap Literature and Arts Association.

That is a precious encouragement, a motivation for Ms. Pham Thi Le Huyen herself to strive to live a good life, a useful life for this life. “We only live once, we must live in a way that does not cause pain or regret. We really encounter difficulties when we give up all efforts. Therefore, I always try every day to live a good life and do useful things for life,” Ms. Huyen shared.

Born and raised in the land of revolutionary tradition, Doc Binh Kieu commune, Thap Muoi district, Dong Thap province. When she was born, her right leg was atrophied and deformed. Due to difficult family circumstances, her parents had to go far away to work, so from a young age, Huyen lacked the protection and affection of her parents. In the rainy season, where she lived, she had to row a boat and wade through the fields to go to school, difficulties piled on difficulties. However, Huyen always tried to study hard so that in the future she could have a career to support herself and her family and would not be a burden on society.

Life continued to hit a low note when her family happiness was not complete. She divorced her husband when her son was not yet one year old and her mother suddenly passed away. Ms. Huyen had to take care of her son, support her younger brother's university expenses, and take care of her grandmother who was over 70 years old, and her biological father who had a new family.

Since birth, I have been disabled, I grew up in the contemptuous eyes of others and now that I have grown up, the current difficulties are just challenges to help me grow more mature. From then on, when I encounter difficulties in life, I remind myself to try, try every day and everything will pass", Ms. Huyen confided.

Despite her own adversity, Ms. Huyen finds joy in her work, in the work of the Youth Union and the Vietnam Youth Union. “I find joy in the work of promoting education, helping students in difficult circumstances, as if adding a part of my strength to help them fulfill their dreams and have a bright future. The happy smiles of the students and their families when they receive scholarships from organizations and individuals. I feel my heart is also peaceful and happy.
