Ms. Noushin Shabab, Head of Security Research at Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT) at Kaspersky, revealed that a series of key cyber espionage groups are quietly targeting state secrets, military intelligence information and many other sensitive data from governments in the region.
“The Asia- Pacific region has long been a hotbed of cyber espionage activity due to the escalating geopolitical landscape. When combined with rapid economic and digital growth, it creates a complex threat landscape, shaped by a number of active cyber threat actors targeting high-level organizations, individuals, and critical infrastructure in the region,” Shabab said.
Globally, Kaspersky's Global Research and Analysis Team (GReAT) experts are monitoring more than 900 different Advanced Persistent Threat (ATP) groups and campaigns and detecting a wide range of cyberattack techniques with a wide range of objectives.
To protect against cyberattacks, Kaspersky recommends that organizations focus on accurate detection, rapid response with familiar tactics, and timely remediation of security vulnerabilities.
