Globally, coffee prices are being weighed down by concerns over unfavorable weather conditions in Brazil, the world’s largest coffee producer. Frost has reduced crop yields, leading to a more challenging global supply-demand outlook. However, high arabica inventories and forecasts of higher robusta production from Vietnam are creating mixed pressures.
In addition, a notable factor is the expansion of the Chinese market. In early August 2025, China licensed 183 Brazilian coffee enterprises, while Brazilian coffee entering the US is subject to a 50% reciprocal tax. China is forecast to import 336,000 tons in the 2024-2025 crop year (according to the US Department of Agriculture ), with great potential thanks to a population of more than 1 billion people and the trend of switching from tea to coffee among young people. However, Vietnam's market share here is only 2.1% (22,050 tons in the first 7 months of 2025, according to VICOFA), and Vietnamese enterprises need to prepare official export procedures through GACC to take advantage of the opportunity.

In Vietnam – the world’s largest robusta producer, coffee prices are slightly decreasing after the previous increase, mainly due to limited supply but farmers holding on to their stocks waiting for better prices. On the morning of August 20, 2025 (latest data, reflecting the trend from August 19), prices in the Central Highlands ranged from VND116,600 - 117,300/kg, down VND500/kg compared to the previous day.
This price decline reflects pressure from the global market (robusta is down slightly), but remains high thanks to limited domestic supply and forecasts of robusta production in 2025-26 increasing by 7.9% to 28.8 million bags, stabilizing supply in the medium term.
