Mr. Le Duong Tung (Ha Dong district, Hanoi) said that his family of 4 traveled from Ha Dong district at 2:00 a.m. and arrived at Dong Bai ferry station at 3:00 a.m., but could only board the ferry at 8:30 a.m. the same day.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Vu Manh Ha - Head of Dong Bai - Cai Vieng ferry terminal said that since early morning on April 30, the number of passengers traveling via Dong Bai ferry to Cat Ba island has increased many times compared to normal days.

“From 4 a.m., 100% of the staff working at the ferry terminal, along with the police and border guards, were present at the ferry and the access roads to regulate traffic,” added Mr. Vu Manh Ha.
As of 12 noon today (April 30), statistics from Dong Bai - Cai Vieng ferry terminal show that there have been 42 ferry trips arranged to pick up passengers to Ngoc Island.

The unit has operated 5 Bay View ferries of nearly 200 tons, running continuously to serve passengers. In addition, the unit has added 2 small ferries of 20 tons to support load reduction.
At Phu Long cable car station, the number of passengers traveling by cable car and bus to Cat Ba island is quite large, but there is no overload.

The leader of Sungroup Corporation, the owner of the cable car line, said that they have arranged 10 electric cars to run the Phu Long cable car station - Green Island Central Bay route to operate continuously to serve tourists during the free trial period (April 18 - May 15, 2025).

It is known that before that, from April 23, Hai Phong City People's Committee issued an urgent dispatch on urgent plans to divert traffic through Dong Bai - Cai Vieng ferry.
Specifically, the city temporarily suspends the transportation of cars and trucks from Cat Hai to Cat Ba Island from 9am to 1pm every day from April 26 to May 4 and on weekends from May 10 to July 30.

In a related development, a representative of Hanoi Railway Transport Joint Stock Company said that during the April 30 and May 1 holidays, in addition to maintaining 4 pairs of trains running from Hanoi to Hai Phong, the railway industry has organized 5 more pairs of trains on the route.

To ensure traffic safety and order during the holidays, the Traffic Police Department of Hai Phong City Police, in coordination with relevant units, has proactively deployed propaganda activities to raise awareness of compliance with traffic safety laws.

At the same time, establish working groups to strengthen patrols, control, and handle potential problems that pose risks to railway traffic safety, especially at intersections; inspect railway personnel, focusing on checking the use of alcohol and stimulants to ensure compliance with regulations on the operation and exploitation of railway traffic infrastructure.
