DTO - For each person, locality or country, a certain moment can become a special milestone. And that is absolutely true, April 30, 1975 is the time to open a new page for Vietnam in general, Dong Thap in particular. April 30, 1975 is the day the Resistance War against America ended, saving the country. The Resistance War won a complete victory, bringing the country back to one, the whole nation was filled with joy - Peace! The desire for unification, peace and independence urged the whole nation to "march" relentlessly and that effort led to the sweetness of a resounding victory across the five continents. That triumphant song opened a new journey for the homeland and now creates a new and open journey.

In the modern history of Vietnam, the victory of the Resistance War against the US to save the country is considered the most brilliant milestone. Together with the whole country, the Party Committee and the People of Dong Thap endured many hardships and sacrifices, continuously "held their ground", fought steadfastly to "win the land", "win the people" and then finally, to take power into the hands of the people. This long, arduous and fierce war was forged and crystallized by the fine traditions of the Vietnamese people and enhanced through the war.

These are patriotism and revolutionary heroism; the spirit of solidarity and promoting the strength of the entire people; the “multi-talentedness”, initiative and creativity of the resistance forces; the sense of self-reliance - “Using our own strength to liberate ourselves” of all classes of people; the will to not fear danger, dare to think, dare to do, dare to take responsibility of the cadres; the “flesh and blood” attachment between the Party Committee and the people and the army and the people like “Fish and water”. The victory in the Resistance War against the US to save the country opened a new page of history for the Party Committee and the people of Dong Thap to continue writing the heroic epic of building a rich, beautiful and civilized homeland.

Despite having to bear the consequences of war, the obstacles of a poor homeland, the unfavorable conditions of a “remote” area and the aggression of external forces on the border, the Party Committee and the People of Dong Thap have persevered and steadfastly built a new society. First of all, focusing on building a people’s government from the province to the grassroots level and through many years of consolidation and improvement, the government apparatus has become “friendly”, “accompanying”, and is being “digitalized” to be able to be close to the people, serve and care for the legitimate rights and interests of the people and businesses. Many indicators show that the people and businesses agree to support the “constructive” government in particular and the political system in general.

Overcoming many obstacles of the "subsidy period", production and business activities were allowed to "explode", "break through the fence" to revive themselves. In particular, the decisive, creative and tireless "Conquering Dong Thap Muoi" attack of leaders and farmers created the appearance of a diverse, modern agriculture and prosperous countryside. That foundation was the premise for a start-up movement with unique OCOP (One commune one Product) products to conquer domestic and foreign markets. From here, infrastructure, especially roads, was promoted to develop rapidly, creating momentum for the formation of urban areas and connecting key regions. Accordingly, facilities and technical infrastructure with many information technology and internet centers, schools, hospitals and clinics, training and entertainment facilities... "sprouted like mushrooms", contributing to improving people's knowledge, training talents, enriching the spiritual and physical life of the people.

Over the years, political security, social order and safety have been basically maintained, people live in peace and society is healthy. The contingent of cadres, civil servants and public employees in the apparatus of the political system has always been consolidated, with sufficient capacity and qualities to meet the requirements in each revolutionary stage and quickly adapt to new circumstances. These factors have contributed to "There is such a place" - "A place worth living"!

Since 1975, under the leadership of the Party Committee, the “New Journey” has made Dong Thap “change its skin” and Dong Thap people are gradually approaching modernity and civilization. The image of a Dong Thap with “Mosquitoes chirping like flutes, the dishes are as smooth as rice noodles” only remains in the memories of a few people and is a sweet song to remember a bygone era. Following the victory of the Resistance War against the US to save the country, the socio-economic achievements in the past 50 years are a series of extraordinary efforts of ordinary people. They not only promote the fine traditions of the nation but also cultivate new qualities of “loyalty, dynamism, creativity” and high adaptability to the unusual changes of an unpredictable world.

With these invaluable “assets” as provisions, Dong Thap people will firmly step forward in the “New Open Journey” and continue to make a big mark in the new era. From now on, with a larger area and a larger population, the “new Dong Thap people” will have many opportunities to promote internal strength and exploit external strength to rise up. They will be “Phu Dong” when deeply integrating into the local and foreign communities, “rolling around” in the market economy, mastering modern production tools, “immersing” themselves in democracy and civilization. Of course, no different from the previous war, the “New Open Journey” will certainly face difficulties, even certain losses and sacrifices. More than ever, Dong Thap people need to be smart to make the right choice, brave to be decisive, tolerant to harmonize, united to go far together and united to have enough strength.

No matter from which perspective, April 30, 1975 is still a milestone that has completely changed the reality of Vietnam in general and Dong Thap in particular. For the Party Committee and the people of Dong Thap today, April 30, 1975 is the salvation that revives a "sleeping" land and inspires the possibility of realizing aspirations - the aspirations of a nation to live in a unified, independent and peaceful country. And from here, a wide horizon will certainly open up: Prosperity and civilization.
