Starting to participate in relief work from March 31 with the Ministry of Public Security's rescue team, the Vietnam Army rescue team demonstrated the spirit of "finding victims in Myanmar like finding relatives", working from early morning to late at night with very high intensity.

Upon arrival at Yangon airport, the delegation traveled more than 500km by road to the capital Naypyidaw. During the night of March 30 and the morning of March 31, the delegation worked with relevant Myanmar authorities to determine the search area, as well as coordination methods to ensure the most convenient and effective search.

The earthquake's aftershocks are still present, and the environment in the areas where the search team is deployed is very harsh: hot, with temperatures often exceeding 40 degrees Celsius; the bodies are badly decomposed or submerged in water, making them very polluted; the ground and space in collapsed areas pose a potential danger to rescuers.

In Naypyidaw, the team searched for victims at three locations: Bala Tidi apartment complex, Ottara Thiri hospital and Aye Chan Thar hotel. At these locations, the team used sniffer dogs and specialized search equipment to detect 32 locations where victims were trapped under the rubble; directly organized searches at 20 locations, and brought out 21 bodies of victims.

In particular, the team coordinated with rescue forces from Myanmar and Türkiye to save the life of a 26-year-old man who had been trapped in the rubble for 5 days.

In addition, at these locations, the team found many assets and equipment worth hundreds of thousands of USD, then handed them over to Ottara Thiri Hospital and the people.

In addition to the rescue work, the delegation supported and handed over to Myanmar 40 tons of dry food and some tents (not including the goods that the Ministry of National Defense has just decided to provide additional support).

The delegation members raised $5,000 to support the families of the victims. With hospitals in Naypyidaw devastated by the earthquake and lacking medicine and medical equipment, the delegation provided free medical examinations and medicine to more than 200 local people.

The delegation also exchanged and shared rescue experiences with professional agencies of Myanmar, Türkiye, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Myanmar authorities as well as rescue forces from other countries highly appreciate the professionalism, expertise, courage, intelligence and creativity of the engineering, medical and service dog forces of the Vietnam Army delegation.

The Vietnamese Army's sending of forces to participate in earthquake relief in Myanmar has contributed to spreading the noble international spirit, the fine traditions of the nation and the qualities of Uncle Ho's soldiers. This is especially meaningful in the Vietnam - Myanmar relationship, thereby sharing and helping the people of the neighboring country overcome difficulties.
