This morning, on Le Duan Street (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City), a general rehearsal for the parade took place in preparation for the national celebration of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
The streets were red with flags and billboards. People lined both sides of the sidewalks where the parade would pass. Many people from far away, worried that there would be no more seats, came at 2-3am and "reserved" a seat to watch without tiring their legs.
Meanwhile, before the rehearsal, thousands of soldiers from the parade groups were present, ready with their military equipment, practicing on-site marching exercises. Taking advantage of the break before the rehearsal, people and the participating forces interacted and took photos. They sang songs praising the Party, the country, and President Ho Chi Minh. Everyone was joyfully waiting for the troops to pass by.
Mrs. Phan Nu Le Tuyet's extended family from Binh Thuan came to Ho Chi Minh City to watch the parade. Her family took the opportunity to check in with excitement even though they stayed overnight on Nguyen Hue Street.
At the intersection of Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Hai Ba Trung, many people sat on the street waiting for the parade to pass.
"Forest" of red flags and yellow stars prepared by the people.
