National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man requested the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor to innovate trade union activities and promptly advise the Party and State on issues of employment and workers' lives.

On the morning of July 28, in Hanoi, to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor held the 4th Nguyen Van Linh Award Ceremony, commended the 5th outstanding grassroots trade union chairmen and grassroots trade unions nationwide, and received the First Class Labor Medal.
Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended and delivered a speech.

Before the ceremony, delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an outstanding leader who devoted his life to the country and the people, and who always had special affection and care for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union.
The Party's loyal and trustworthy support
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in recognition of the outstanding achievements of the Vietnam Trade Union over the past five years.
In his speech, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man affirmed that over 95 years of establishment and development, the Vietnam Trade Union has continuously grown and matured, accompanied the nation, been a reliable and loyal support of the Party, wholeheartedly strived for the interests of the working class and laborers; made important and direct contributions to the great victory of the Vietnamese revolution. The working class and the Trade Union organization have always been the leading force in the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country.
In recent times, the Trade Union has made many breakthroughs and innovations in terms of organization, content and methods of operation. Along with the growth of the Trade Union, the working class has been supplemented in quantity and improved in quality; Trade Unions at all levels have cared for and introduced tens of thousands of excellent workers, civil servants and laborers for the Party and State to consider, appoint and promote to leadership positions at Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations at all levels.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the National Assembly Chairman warmly commended the outstanding achievements of the Trade Union organization, union members and workers nationwide over the past 95 years.
The National Assembly Chairman pointed out that the requirements for promoting industrialization, modernization, and increasingly deep international integration and the impact of the Fourth Industrial Revolution pose new opportunities and challenges for the Trade Union organization.
In addition to job opportunities, access to science and technology, and participation in the global value chain, businesses and workers require constant efforts to improve labor productivity, management capacity, and competitiveness.
In addition, it is necessary to implement international labor commitments in new-generation free trade agreements, requiring Vietnam's Trade Union to strongly and comprehensively innovate, affirming its core and direct role in building a modern and strong working class.
Spread the spirit of innovation and creativity
The National Assembly Chairman requested that Trade Unions at all levels continue to effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress; Resolution No. 02 dated June 12, 2021 of the Politburo on innovation of the organization and operation of Vietnam Trade Unions in the new situation and the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and policies on the organization and operation of Trade Unions.

The Trade Union regularly conducts social supervision and criticism and participates in giving opinions to build the Party and government at all levels; builds a strong enough trade union resource to fulfill the tasks entrusted to it by the Party, the State, the society and all workers, civil servants and employees. At the same time, promptly advises the Party and the State on issues related to employment, workers' lives and the organization and activities of the Vietnam Trade Union.
The National Assembly Chairman noted and grasped the situation of employment, income, and life; listened to the thoughts and aspirations of workers and union officials to develop appropriate, scientific, feasible programs and work plans and organize their implementation resolutely and effectively; focused on strongly applying information technology in all union activities.
In addition, it is necessary to innovate propaganda and mobilization work; take care of training to improve the political capacity, educational level, professional skills, industrial style, labor discipline, and legal awareness of union members and workers; and must ensure labor safety and hygiene.
The National Assembly Chairman requested that Trade Unions at all levels proactively contribute to the preparation process for the 14th National Party Congress; effectively disseminate and implement laws and resolutions of the National Assembly, including many new regulations and policies related to workers; promptly deploy regulations on reforming wage policies; adjust pensions, social insurance benefits, monthly allowances, preferential allowances for meritorious people and a number of social security policies effective from July 1, 2024. The 7th session of the 15th National Assembly gave its first opinion on the Law on Trade Unions (amended) with many new requirements and tasks for Trade Union organizations, which is expected to be considered and approved by the 8th session of the National Assembly.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the outstanding Trade Union officials who were awarded and recognized today will strongly spread the spirit of innovation, creativity, and continuous striving among Trade Union officials at all levels, and that there will be more outstanding Trade Union officials who deserve to receive the Award and be recognized and honored in the following years.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that during his lifetime, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always had special affection, affirmed his important position, and trusted and had expectations for the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union.
Our country has just gone through days of sadness with infinite regret when General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away forever; the National Assembly Chairman hopes that all levels of Trade Unions will make more efforts and be determined to realize the General Secretary's wish: "In the 2023-2028 term, the term towards the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union, the Trade Union organization and the Vietnamese workers' and laborers' movement will certainly have new developments, achieve even greater and more impressive achievements, make worthy contributions to the renovation process, successfully carry out the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, contribute to the historical mission of the working class to the country and the nation; build Vietnam to be increasingly prosperous, democratic, equitable and civilized."
With that spirit, the National Assembly Chairman believes that, promoting the glorious tradition of the working class and the Vietnam Trade Union, in the coming time, the Trade Union will have a new and stronger development step, making worthy contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation. Cadres, union members, workers, civil servants and laborers nationwide will continue to strive to work and produce, further enhancing the fine tradition of the working class and the Trade Union, actively contributing to the cause of industrialization and modernization of the country, for the goal of "rich people, strong country, equality, democracy and civilization."
At the ceremony, 10 union officials with outstanding achievements in caring for and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers and building a strong union organization were awarded the 4th Nguyen Van Linh Award; 95 outstanding grassroots union and trade union chairmen nationwide were commended and honored.

Previously, reviewing the 95-year tradition of the Vietnam Trade Union, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang affirmed that on this day 95 years ago, in the seething revolutionary atmosphere of the people of the whole country, under the direction of the Executive Committee of the Indochinese Communist Party, at house number 15 Hang Non street, Hanoi, the General Red Trade Union of Tonkin, the predecessor of the Trade Union organization, was officially established, headed by leader Nguyen Duc Canh.
Over the past 95 years, through countless difficulties and challenges, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnam Trade Union has continuously grown and matured, accompanying the nation, becoming a reliable and loyal force and support of the Party, closely attached to it, wholeheartedly striving for the interests of the working class and laborers.
Continuing the tradition of previous generations, today's generation of union officials is constantly pondering, exploring, proactively innovating, and dedicating all their efforts to the sacred and noble goal of ensuring jobs, improving income, and raising the living standards of union members and workers.
To recognize and commend typical examples of advanced trade union activities, especially the movement "Innovation, creativity, efficiency in trade union activities" since 2019, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor issued the Regulations on awarding the Nguyen Van Linh Award - the Award named after a prestigious leader of the Party, State and people, who held the position of Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor from 1977 to 1980, a leader of innovative thinking, words must go hand in hand with actions, theory must be closely linked to practice./.
