"Bridge" in New Rural Development, civilized urban area in Thach Thanh district

The campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" has been widely deployed by the Fatherland Front at all levels of Thach Thanh district, spreading widely in the community.

With the motto "Using the people's strength to care for the people", the Fatherland Front of Thanh Cong commune has deployed various forms of propaganda and mobilization of people to participate in the construction of new rural areas. Activities are conducted through conferences in residential areas and loudspeaker systems, helping each person clearly understand their responsibilities and roles in the process of building new rural areas. During the implementation process, the Front's working committee always ensures good implementation of the publicity and transparency of "People know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise and people enjoy", creating high consensus in the community. Thanks to that, the commune has successfully mobilized resources for new rural construction with a total value of over 240 billion VND, of which the people contributed nearly 70%. Notably, the mobilization of resources from the people to build infrastructure, including roads.

Mr. Bui Van Bang, Party cell secretary and head of Dong Da village, said: “Previously, some roads in the village were seriously degraded, causing difficulties for people to travel. When there was a policy to rebuild the road, the village front working committee coordinated with members to actively propagate, disseminate the policy and guide people to implement it. All work was discussed openly, transparently, and closely linked to the interests of the people, thereby creating high consensus in donating land and expanding roads. From 2023 to now, many households in the village have voluntarily donated 1,000m2 of land, dismantled ancillary works, fences, and gates to expand 2.5km of roads and build welfare works.”

In recent years, implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Fatherland Front at all levels in Thach Thanh district has had many creative ways to mobilize the strength of great national unity to effectively participate in campaigns and emulation movements in the locality. Notably, the Fatherland Front at all levels has mobilized people to actively compete in labor production to develop the economy , reduce poverty sustainably, voluntarily donate land, trees, crops, contribute money and labor to build new rural areas.

In 5 years (from 2019-2024), the Fatherland Front at all levels in Thach Thanh district mobilized people to donate 157,526m2 of land, contribute thousands of working days; mobilized resources from people to contribute 3,905 billion VND to build rural roads, build and repair 134 new cultural houses and social welfare works. In addition, the Fatherland Front at all levels has deployed the construction of 170 self-management models, typically the models: "Bright - green - clean - beautiful - safe residential area", "Self-managed residential area ensuring food hygiene and safety", "Self-managed residential area on environmental sanitation", "Self-managed residential area on security and order"; mobilized people to install 920 security cameras. Up to now, the whole district has 138 residential areas without crime or social evils, 184 residential areas have achieved cultural residential areas, and 90% of families have achieved cultural families.

In addition, activities for the poor, such as the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - no one is left behind", the peak month for the poor, have been effectively implemented by the Fatherland Front at all levels in the district. In particular, implementing Directive No. 22-CT/TU dated March 30, 2024 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on the campaign to support housing construction for poor households, policy households, and households with housing difficulties in the province in the 2 years 2024-2025, the Standing Committee of the District Fatherland Front has proactively deployed, propagated, and mobilized agencies, units, businesses and people to actively participate in supporting the construction. From the support fund and the contribution of working days from relatives, up to now, 391/391 households have started to build houses. Thach Thanh is the first mountainous district in the province to complete the housing construction program according to Directive 22.

The district Fatherland Front has developed plans and coordinated with member organizations to effectively implement campaigns and emulation movements in many diverse forms such as: farmers' associations competing in production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty; women's unions actively studying, working creatively, building happy families; young people actively developing the socio-economy and protecting the Fatherland; accompanying young people to establish themselves and start a business; exemplary veterans, veterans helping each other reduce poverty, do good business...

The practical and effective activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and organizations from the district to the grassroots have created a combined strength, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the district to 4.38%, near-poor households to 3.74%, building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland.
