According to the report of the Department of Construction, the drainage system in Da Nang city is not yet synchronized, so when the rainy season comes, some lower urban areas are often flooded. Areas that are frequently flooded include Ham Nghi and Khe Can streets in the city center. The cause is partly due to water from Da Nang airport flowing into the central area, causing flooding.
Currently, the City People's Committee agrees with the proposal of the Department of Construction on the proposed contents and expected progress of investment preparation for 21 drainage and flood prevention projects in the city; including the project to renovate regulating lakes and build a drainage system in the Da Nang airport area.
There are expected to be 5 sluice gates to regulate and retain water in the airport lake areas in a slow drainage direction, both to avoid flooding and to avoid affecting people's lives.

According to the representative of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council, the investment and dredging of the regulating lakes in the airport must wait for the opinion of Division 372, so it will take a long time. The immediate solution is to separate the implementation of the 5 sluice gates into a separate project to do first.
Concluding the meeting, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Phuoc Son agreed with the proposal of the Urban Committee on implementing the 5 sluice gates as a separate project to be implemented first. He requested relevant departments, agencies and sectors to study, advise and propose to the City People's Committee on implementing the process and procedures in the shortest possible way so that the project can be implemented soon.
Regarding the handling of flooding in the area outside the airport, the city is implementing many projects at the same time. The City People's Committee is requested to direct units to speed up the implementation progress. Regarding the drainage system in the airport area, in the coming time, relevant units will conduct a field survey and work with relevant units to agree on the implementation plan.
* On the same afternoon, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Phuoc Son chaired a working session with relevant units to listen to reports on the handling of wastewater discharge into estuaries along the My An - My Khe beach area, belonging to An Hai ward and Ngu Hanh Son ward.
According to the Department of Construction, this area has 3 drainage treatment packages to connect the wastewater drainage system and collect and bring it to the wastewater treatment plant.
Currently, the construction and connection of the separate wastewater collection system in My An - My Khe area has been completed. However, some households still discharge wastewater directly into the stormwater drainage system along the road, flowing into the stormwater drainage system and out to sea, causing environmental pollution.
Concluding this content, the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Council requested relevant functional units to strengthen the inspection of wastewater connections of households, production and service establishments in the area.
The City People's Committee and relevant agencies and localities need to coordinate with relevant units to ensure dredging of sewers, limit the accumulation of waste; at the same time, develop a plan to handle situations where rainwater rises, reducing the situation of wastewater overflowing into the sea.
