The whole country has supported the elimination of 121,638 temporary and dilapidated houses.

On the afternoon of March 10, the Central Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide held its third meeting to evaluate the results of the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses since the second meeting and the directions and tasks for the coming time. The meeting was held online, connecting from the Government headquarters to the headquarters of 63 provinces and cities.

Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide chaired the meeting. Also attending and chairing at the central bridge were comrades: Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister; Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.

Attending the conference at the Thai Binh province bridge were comrade Nguyen Khac Than, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for the implementation of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in the province; comrades of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Council and People's Committee; leaders of a number of departments, branches and districts and cities.

As of March 6, 2025, the whole country has supported the elimination of 121,638/223,146 temporary and dilapidated houses, reaching 54.5%; of which 65,564 houses have been inaugurated and 56,074 new houses have been started. Specifically, housing support for people with revolutionary contributions is 10,338 houses; housing support under the two national target programs is 57,664 houses and housing support under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is 53,636 houses.

To date, agencies, units, banks, corporations, general companies and enterprises have transferred VND 2,230 billion according to the resource mobilization plan in the program launched on October 5, 2024, reaching 64.4%. As of February 28, 2025, the Central "For the Poor" Fund has received over VND 80.1 billion to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses.

In addition to the 5 localities that have completed the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area, the 10 localities with the highest results in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses include: Nghe An, Soc Trang, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Dong Thap, Ca Mau, Bac Giang, Phu Tho, Gia Lai and Kien Giang. Some localities with modest results in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses include: Ha Tinh, Binh Thuan, Long An...

From now until December 31, 2025, 101,508 houses need to be completed; of which, about 70,000 houses under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

Concluding the meeting, Comrade Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Prime Minister, Head of the Steering Committee for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide affirmed that this is a program of profound humanitarian significance of the Party and State for the people, especially those in remote, isolated and disadvantaged areas. The program for the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses demonstrates the tradition of "Repaying gratitude" to those who have contributed to the revolution, the spirit of "Mutual love", great national unity, national sentiment, and compatriotism.

The Prime Minister commended the active and determined spirit of the central ministries, branches, localities, organizations and enterprises that have contributed to the initial results of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide.

The Prime Minister said that through this movement, many exemplary pioneers have emerged, worthy of praise and learning. The Prime Minister requested ministries, branches and localities to propose, guide and have forms of rewards for organizations and individuals with outstanding achievements; at the same time, there should be forms of criticism and review of localities, groups and individuals who have not done well in the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

The Prime Minister requested that some ministries, branches and localities that have not performed well must seriously learn from their experiences so that the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses can be quickly completed according to the set plan, and make efforts so that the ultimate goal is to care for the people to be warm, prosperous and happy.

For some localities facing difficulties in implementation, especially in remote areas and ethnic minority areas, it is necessary to review, exploit and utilize local materials for implementation.

The Prime Minister requested that local steering committees need to be closely involved, uphold their sense of responsibility, grasp the situation, and provide close direction right at the local level and in their units. Strengthen propaganda work; set specific and clear goals; clarify the people, the work, the progress, the responsibilities, and the results.

Affirming that completing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is an important political task, the Prime Minister proposed to only discuss action, not retreat; promote the spirit of great national unity, high determination, great effort, and drastic action; utilize resources, strengthen inspection and supervision, and strive to basically complete the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide by October 31, 2025.
