Vietnamese women's volleyball team attends World Championship in Thailand for the first time

The Vietnam Volleyball Federation (VFV) informed that tomorrow (August 20), Head Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his students will leave for Phuket, Thailand, to attend the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, taking place from August 22 to September 7.

The 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship will feature 32 teams, divided into eight groups. The teams will compete in a round-robin format to determine the top two teams from each group to advance to the round of 16.

The Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team is in Group G, along with the following teams: Poland (ranked 3rd in the world), Germany (ranked 11th in the world) and Kenya (ranked 22nd in the world). According to the schedule, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team will compete with Poland (August 23), Germany (August 25) and Kenya (August 27).

Under the guidance of Head Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, the list of 13 official athletes representing Vietnam includes: Main attacker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy (captain), Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Thi Phuong; middle attacker Nguyen Thi Trinh, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Le Thanh Thuy, Pham Thi Hien; opposite setter Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh; setters Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Vo Thi Kim Thoa; Libero Nguyen Khanh Dang, Nguyen Thi Ninh Anh.

In this tournament, the team will not have the service of athlete Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen. Due to personal reasons, Bich Tuyen has wished not to compete in this tournament.

The Vietnamese Women's Volleyball team's first appearance at the most prestigious playground on the planet is a source of great pride, a historic journey marking a new chapter for Vietnamese volleyball.

To prepare for the tournament, the whole team has undergone serious training, participated in a number of tournaments and achieved good results. Notably, the SEA V.League 2025 championship, stage 2, after a historic victory over Thailand.

This is the first time and an opportunity for the Vietnamese Women's Volleyball team to compete on the world stage, approach and compete with major volleyball teams; thereby accumulating experience, developing expertise to prepare for the biggest goal of the year, the 33rd SEA Games.

After returning from Thailand, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will take a short break before returning to training in October./.
