Billiards: Bao Phuong Vinh wins like a boss, Tran Quyet Chien's student makes an impression

3 9-point series in the first half

On August 20, the round of 16 and quarterfinals of the 2025 Million Cup 3-cushion carom billiards tournament took place. Among the top Vietnamese players competing, Bao Phuong Vinh continued to show a high-class performance. Facing each other in the round of 16, Bao Phuong Vinh and Le Thanh Tien gave the audience a match of extremely high professional quality.

Right at the starting point, Le Thanh Tien entered the game with a series of 6 points. In the 3rd base turn, Bao Phuong Vinh responded with a series of 9 points, equalizing the score to 9-9. In the 5th base turn, Phuong Vinh made the audience admire when he continued to launch a series of 9 points, leading Thanh Tien 19-14. Facing the opponent's terrible scoring speed, Le Thanh Tien also showed that he was no pushover. In the 9th base turn, Thanh Tien scored a series of 9 points, to equalize the gap to 24-24.

In the second half, Bao Phuong Vinh continued to score 7 points in the 8th turn, leading 35-24. In the 10th turn, the 2023 world champion scored 8 points again, leading 43-27. The player born in 1995 ended the match with a 6-point score in the 13th turn, winning 50-31 against Le Thanh Tien.

In the quarterfinals against Mai Tan Huyen, Bao Phuong Vinh had a series of 7 points. The player from Binh Duong controlled the game well and defeated Mai Tan Huyen 50-30, after 30 turns. Bao Phuong Vinh won a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2025 Million Cup 3-cushion carom billiards tournament.

Le Hoang Kim defeated veteran players

In the same match of round 16, Tran Thanh Luc faced Le Hoang Kim. Bogota Billiards World Cup champion Tran Thanh Luc started the match impressively with a series of 11 points. The player born in 1990 scored steadily and led for most of the match. Meanwhile, Tran Quyet Chien's student showed impressive chasing ability.

Le Hoang Kim won the final match with a score of 50-49 against Tran Thanh Luc. In the quarter-finals, Quyet Chien's student defeated Nguyen Huu Thanh with a score of 50-40, thereby winning a ticket to the semi-finals.

The semi-finals and the championship final of the tournament took place on August 21. In the semi-finals: Chiem Hong Thai met Le Hoang Kim, Bao Phuong Vinh faced Nguyen Van Tai.
