Notice of tuition collection within 15 days, students worried

On December 30, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade issued a notice on collecting tuition fees for the second semester of the 2024-2025 school year. The collection period is from December 30, 2024 to January 15, 2025. After the deadline for collecting tuition fees, students who have not completed their tuition payment obligations will have their registered courses canceled and their names will not be on the class list.

Immediately after the school issued this announcement, many students spoke out, saying that paying tuition fees within just 15 days of Lunar New Year 2025 would cause difficulties for students.

Student NHĐ.Q commented: "The school announced that the tuition fee payment deadline is only 15 days (December 30 - January 15), and it's before Tet. The tuition fee at the school is approximately 16 - 22 million VND. If the school requires students to pay like that, there will be countless people who will not have a complete Tet holiday."

HL student also shared similar content: "Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade announced that tuition fees must be paid within 15 days, causing many students to face difficulties and worries."

The school’s fanpage post about this last night attracted thousands of interactions and comments. Many students said they were worried and upset about having to pay tuition so urgently.

What does the school say?

Sharing with Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters, a school representative said that the school still collects tuition fees after students have registered for the second semester. Every year, this usually falls after the Tet holiday, but this year the second semester starts early so it is close to Tet. Moreover, the 15-day deadline for paying fees this year is the same as every year, not shortened.

"However, if arrangements cannot be made, students can apply for an extension after Tet. The school will approve 100% of extension applications, without considering family circumstances, so students can study with peace of mind. The school has notified students about the extension of tuition payment time, and the extension application must be submitted to the Student Affairs Office," said a school representative.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade currently charges tuition fees of VND863,000/theoretical credit and VND1.1 million/practical credit for the 2024 course. The total tuition fee for the entire course of students admitted in 2024 ranges from VND102 to VND120 million depending on the major, with students paying an average of VND32 to VND36 million per year.
