Agribank pioneered the digital switch, ready for breakouts

Breakthrough momentum

Chief executive The Agribank - Mr. Pham Toan Van stressed that with a network spanning 63 provinces, cities across the country, operating mainly in rural and remote areas, as well as a large percentage of customers who have limited access to technology, Agribank has always recognized that only by adopting digitalization and updating technologies can maximize benefits for both banks and clients, contributing to building the digital economy.

That's why, since the Ministry Politically issuing Resolution 57-NQ/TW, as well as the Government issued Resolution 03-NQ/CP dated 09/01/2025 on the Action Program of the Government implementing Resolution No. 57, HĐTV, The bank's leadership studied and imbued with the guiding ideology of the Ministry of Politics and Government.

Immediately at the beginning of the 2020-2025 term, Agribank Party Committee issued Resolution No. 01-NQ/DUU-NHNo dated 25 December 2020 on Increasing innovation science After the adoption of Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution 03-NQ/CP, on February 28, 2025, the Banking Committee Party issued Plan No. 77-KH/DU to implement these two resolutions, Pham Toan Van added.

In Plan 77, the bank set out an action plan based on 5 clear criteria: people, work, responsibility, progress and effectiveness in order to realize its goal of putting science, technology, digital transformation and innovation as the main driving force for development.

At the same time, Agribank will increase investments and complete infrastructure for development, scientific application, technology, innovative innovation and digital transformation; enhance the development of software and applications associated with Agribank's administrative, operational and business activities aimed at providing automated, multi-channel banking services, improving service quality, enhancing experience and increasing customer satisfaction.

One difficulty for Agribank is that there is a large percentage of customers in rural, remote areas so limiting the access to technology. Mr Hoang Minh Ngoc - Deputy Director General of Agribank said, when both political system and country are moving, the bank is also determined to enter with new currents, not afraid of difficulties, must seize opportunities and conditions to overcome challenges.

Breakthroughs in digital banking

As a major bank, present nationwide, Agribank is fully aware of its mission on the national digital transformation journey. Not only conducting to promote digital transformation in its system, with the motto "Customer-centric", from 2016 until now, Agribank has many policies, solutions for developing services, functionality, new utilities in payments, using modern technology to meet the growing needs of customers.

In the past, many of Agribank's e-banking service products after implementing applications have been accepted by the market such as: eKYC online accounts, non-physical cards, contactless chip cards, ePIN electronic PIN codes, payment with VietQR code, multifunctional ATM (CDM) with automatic money loading and deposit function, or as Agribank Digital Bank model, withdrawal functionality. . Agribank is one of the pioneers in developing biometric authentication through VNeID.

Every year, the bank always allocates a suitable proportion of its budget to invest in building and applying information technology, ensuring smooth and secure conduct of millions of transactions every day. Of these, automated transactions account for 91. 97% of total transactions. Currently, Agribank has nearly 20 million customers with payment deposits accounts, almost 16 million customers using ATM cards, about 15 million customers using mobile banking services.

It is worth noting that most of the aforementioned modern banking services and utilities have been extended to both remote areas and islands. To date, the bank has more than 3,500 ATM/CDM (of which almost 2,000 machines are located in rural areas), nearly 25,000 POS machines and 68 dedicated automotive transaction points operating in rural areas.

In its rural digitization strategy, the bank aims to use technology to simplify procedures and make it easier for people to access basic services. To realize this goal, Agribank plans to implement installing Agribank Digital automated banking machines in rural areas, remote areas, especially places with limited access to conventional financial products and services so that people can use digital banking facilities for public service activities as well as everyday transactions.

In addition, for many years Agribank has also promoted electronic payments in public administrative services, providing convenience to state bodies and citizens performing state budgetary obligations.

In the years 2023 and 2024, Agribank has expanded its connectivity, signed cooperation agreements with corporations, state-owned block companies, schools, hospitals, Fintech companies, e-commerce platforms, electronic wallets. . ; implemented agreement signing with units to provide public services: collecting electricity bills, water money, tuition fees, subsidies; pay pensions, social insurance benefits, contributing to improving management efficiency, transparency of payment transactions in the economy, contribution to prevention, anti-corruption, negative, money laundering.

With a solid financial foundation, long operational history and 94 million customers across a very wide geographical scope, as Agribank's 2021-2025 digital transformation program resonates with system-wide political determination to aggressively roll out its digitization work the bank will take breakthrough steps.
