Speaking at the conference, Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that grassroots health care plays a very important role in community health care.
Because, grassroots health care provides essential services in primary health examination and treatment; organizes health screening for early detection; health centers and health stations implement health programs in the community to reduce risk factors for non-communicable diseases and prevent epidemics; the Center for Disease Control is the focal point for managing and directing the treatment of non-communicable diseases at grassroots and community health levels.

After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City will have 164 hospitals, 38 medical centers, 168 medical stations, 296 medical points, 11 non-bed centers, 110 social protection centers and more than 30,000 private clinics and pharmacies. "Regional general hospitals (formerly district hospitals) will have the role of providing professional support to the grassroots health sector; receiving cases beyond the treatment capacity of the grassroots health sector and transferring stable patients back to the grassroots health sector for treatment management," informed Dr. Nguyen Van Vinh Chau.
According to Master, Doctor, CK2 Vo Ngoc Cuong, Director of Binh Chanh Hospital, this year, the conference took place in the context of the health sector promoting the improvement of health care quality for people, especially at the local level, and had the participation and reporting of many experts from fields such as: cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrinology, cosmetic surgery and maxillofacial surgery...

This is an opportunity for doctors and nurses at the hospital and other units to exchange expertise, access new directions, update new medical knowledge, share scientific achievements, research projects and practical experiences in treatment and health care for the community, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment at the grassroots level.
At the conference, experts shared about updating new treatment regimens, such as the 2025 guidelines for the treatment of acute coronary syndrome according to the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology (ACC) - the role of doctors from the grassroots level; discussed digital transformation in primary health care activities and the application of Telemedicine technology to examine and treat patients, and provide remote consultation to people, helping to increase access to medical services.
The conference also addressed the early prevention of other health problems in the role of primary health care such as management and care of common chronic wounds, dental care by 2030, and the role of satellite clinics in the local health system.
