(NLDO) - A group of women brought scrap to the store to sell, but the owner did not buy it, so they took it to a nearby landfill to burn, causing a large explosion.
On March 2, professional units of Gia Lai Provincial Police are coordinating with Phu Dong Ward Police, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province to clarify the large explosion near the Phu Dong Transaction Office, Gia Lai Investment and Development Bank (BIDV).
After the explosion, authorities blocked off the scene to investigate the incident.
According to initial investigation, at noon on March 1, 4 women on 2 motorbikes came to the scrap yard of Ms. LTK (residing in Group 6, Phu Dong Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province) to sell scrap. However, because the scrap of these people contained plastic and many other impurities, Ms. LTK did not buy it.
After that, the group of 4 women brought the scrap to an empty lot about 50m from Ms. LTK's scrap yard to burn the plastic and impurities in order to get the metal to sell, but small explosions occurred, so they panicked and ran away. Not long after, a loud explosion occurred.
The explosion damaged some glass windows of the Phu Dong Transaction Office, BIDV Gia Lai Bank.
As reported by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper , at around 2:00 p.m. on March 1, an explosion occurred next to a house in alley 124, Le Duan Street, Group 5, Phu Dong Ward, Pleiku City, Gia Lai Province. The explosion damaged some glass windows of the Phu Dong Transaction Office, BIDV Gia Lai Bank, and the glass doors and lights of some neighboring households.
After the incident, authorities blocked off the scene, preventing people from passing through the area until authorities determined the cause and ensured safety.
