Ms. Do Ngoc Chi, Principal of the school, said that digital citizenship skills are one of the educational activities that will be promoted in the coming school year to equip students with digital skills, meeting the requirements of educational innovation in the context of national integration. The school organizes experiential activities, creative innovation, digital technology club activities, artificial intelligence (AI), etc., helping primary school students approach technology proactively and safely.

Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (Saigon Ward) has entered its second school year after its establishment. Ms. Tran Thi Hong Thuy, Principal of the school, informed that the school received about 20 classrooms in the project to reorganize Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School to fully arrange classrooms and functional rooms for music , fine arts, and experiments of various subjects.

DEPLOYING THE "ONLINE CLASS" MODEL

In preparation for the 2025-2026 school year, Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, directed the Department of Education and Training to study and implement the "online classroom" model applicable to subjects with difficult teacher recruitment or in disadvantaged communes to create conditions for students to have equal access to education, contributing to improving skills and developing talents. Study and implement the integrated English program (Project 5695) for the areas after the merger. Select a number of qualified preschools in each area to pilot the integrated English program for preschool children, in which the program must be professionally approved by the Ministry and agreed by parents and students.

The city's leaders also requested the Department of Education and Training to continue coordinating with the Department of Science and Technology and the City's Digital Transformation Center to implement the digital school model, transform the learning model, and ensure the construction and completion of a shared database of the education sector.

Regarding preparations for the new school year, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that specialized departments will review the contents of each level of education to provide specific instructions for educational service fees and other fees in the area from the 2025-2026 school year according to regulations. The implementation must ensure the principle of stability to avoid disruption and not create fees that affect parents.

Regarding the organization of school programs, Mr. Hieu emphasized ensuring registration on a voluntary and coordinated basis. Professional departments develop principles and procedures for selecting school programs that are suitable for professional activities, avoiding cases where the selected unit does not have enough capacity to ensure professional quality during implementation. The principal must be responsible for the implementation of professional activities of the school.

100% PRIMARY SCHOOLS HAVE 2 SESSIONS/DAY

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the implementation of teaching 2 sessions/day in Ho Chi Minh City from the 2025-2026 school year will be guaranteed 100% for primary schools and implemented according to the roadmap at secondary and high schools for schools with adequate facilities, classrooms, and teaching staff.

The City Department of Education and Training is developing specific guidelines for implementing two-session teaching per day for educational institutions in the city from the 2025-2026 school year, following the guidance document of the Ministry of Education and Training and in line with the development strategy of the city's education and training sector. The guidelines will clearly stipulate which content taught according to the 2018 General Education Program will not be charged; socialized content will be charged.

The head of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also directed the review and inclusion in the school's roadmap for implementing high-quality, advanced education content, regional and international integration with region 2 (Binh Duong before the merger) and region 3 (Ba Ria-Vung Tau before the merger).

Building policies for teachers, expanding school size

Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, directed the Department of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Finance to review the issued resolutions of all three regions to propose adjustments to alternative policies, suitable for the situation after the merger. Prioritize policy proposals for groups of teachers who are difficult to recruit (preschool, foreign languages, information technology, music, fine arts, etc.). Regarding the budget for educational activities, Ms. Thuy requested the Department of Education and Training to review the budget needs in the three regions and related policies, coordinate with the Department of Finance to report and propose to the competent authority to allocate the budget according to regulations.

The Department of Education and Training reviews, synthesizes, and reports the number of classrooms still lacking after the administrative unit arrangement to propose inclusion in the targets for implementing the socio-economic resolution in the 2025-2030 term of the city and each ward, commune, and special zone. Coordinate with the Department of Finance, the Department of Construction, the City's Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, and the People's Committees of wards, communes, and special zones to develop a plan to adjust the 4,500 classroom project, which specifies the responsibilities of relevant departments and branches and details the tasks of wards, communes, and special zones in local planning work. Propose to remove from the project projects that are still entangled in legal issues, requiring a long time to resolve, and supplement new projects arising after the merger, with priority given to areas that are lacking a large number of classrooms for students.

Ensure 100% of children living in the area have enough places to study

According to statistics from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, in the 2025-2026 school year, the city will have about 3,500 public schools with 2,528,789 students, an increase of 39,632 students compared to the previous school year. Of which, preschool has 478,458 students, primary school has 939,002 students, secondary school has 759,278 students, high school has 352,051 students.

In the new school year, the city is expected to put into use 1,287 new classrooms from the budget, including 151 for preschool, 585 for primary, 412 for secondary and 112 for high school. In addition, it is expected that there will be about 200 preschool classrooms and 190 general education classrooms invested from socialized capital.

In the new school year, the city continues to ensure that 100% of children living in the area have enough places to study, ensuring conditions of facilities and equipment to organize activities at educational institutions according to the requirements of the general education program.
