Thanh Hoa overcomes natural disaster consequences, ensuring students are ready for the new school year

On August 21, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province announced that it had just issued a document directing departments, branches, localities and functional forces to urgently overcome the consequences of natural disasters, stabilize people's lives, especially ensuring facilities for students before the new school year.

According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Thanh Hoa, storm No. 3 and floods have affected 195 houses and 9 schools; 13,419 hectares of rice, 2,544 hectares of crops and 4,967 hectares of aquaculture are severely damaged. Not only that, many traffic works, dykes and irrigation works have been eroded and damaged, making the lives of people in the flooded areas even more difficult.

Faced with the above situation, a series of urgent tasks were deployed: providing food, necessities and relief to severely damaged households; repairing essential infrastructure such as transportation, electricity, water, and healthcare .

Regarding education, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested to focus on mobilizing forces and arranging resources to clean up classrooms and repair affected educational facilities.

Prepare adequate facilities, supplement teaching equipment, learning materials, textbooks, ensure all students can go to school and educational facilities must be spacious and clean when the new school year begins. This locality also requires completion by August 2025.

No later than September 2025, temporary accommodation must be decided for households whose houses are completely damaged. Mobilize military, police, youth, etc. to support people in repairing damaged houses, cleaning the environment, etc. At the same time, continue to review residential areas to proactively organize the evacuation of people from weak, unsafe houses, and areas at risk of flash floods, landslides, and flooding.

Relevant departments and branches are assigned to comprehensively assess transport, irrigation, health and education infrastructure to develop plans for upgrading and repairing in the 2026-2030 period.

The Provincial People's Committee emphasized the spirit of urgency and determination, not letting people suffer from hunger and cold or lack of living conditions, while promoting the will to overcome difficulties of cadres, teachers, students and the entire population to soon stabilize life and production, bringing the province back to normal development.
