The activity is part of the event of simultaneously starting and inaugurating 250 projects in 34 provinces and cities across the country to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
High-tech complex
Viettel said that these are two key projects of fundamental significance, affirming Viettel's pioneering role in implementing Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on developing a system of research and testing centers, key national laboratories, focusing on strategic technologies.
The Viettel Research & Development Center project includes 6 smart buildings, with an investment capital of 10,000 billion VND, on an area of 13 hectares in Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, expected to be completed in 2030. This will be a key R&D center, closing the entire process from research to design, testing and manufacturing of high-tech products Made in Vietnam.
In particular, mastering the technologies of manufacturing cruise engines, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), remote sensing satellites, radars, etc. to create military equipment products suitable for the requirements of protecting the Fatherland, to researching and applying technologies of big data, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, etc. to develop equipment, software, solutions, platforms, and services that meet the actual needs of the market and are in line with world technology trends.
The project applies international standards in design and operation, integrating smart, green, and sustainable elements to both meet high professional requirements and be environmentally friendly.
This is also a project built with a system that ensures absolute safety and security, uses the most modern technology and is protected through many layers.
When put into operation, the project is expected to attract 2,500 high-quality personnel, meeting the requirements of the tasks and policies of the Party and State, the Ministry of National Defense has identified in the field of research and production of military equipment, towards modernizing the army, improving combat strength and the ability to protect the country in the new situation.
Platform for National Digital Transformation
An Khanh Data Center is built on an area of 1.9 hectares with a total investment of 17,500 billion VND, designed capacity of 60MW - expected to become the largest data center in the North.
Phase 1 is expected to operate from the second quarter of 2026 and by 2030 will be upgraded to Viettel's second Hyperscale Data Center.
The project is designed according to Uptime Tier III standards, integrating AI developed by Viettel, a 5-layer security system and modern cooling technology, ensuring green, sustainable operation, towards the Government's Net Zero goal.
Viettel said this will be a key infrastructure serving digital transformation of the Government, the Ministry of National Defense, large enterprises and the deployment of artificial intelligence on a national scale.
Mr. Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group affirmed: "Viettel is committed to completing the project on schedule, ensuring quality exceeding requirements and meeting international standards."
“The two projects will be guaranteed safe throughout the construction and operation process, not only as modern research infrastructure today but also as a sustainable foundation for future generations,” Mr. Thang emphasized.
In 2025, Viettel has deployed the construction of a series of strategic projects such as: Tan Phu Trung Data Center, Viettel Da Nang Building... Contributing to the completion of a modern technology infrastructure network, meeting the goals of national defense development and digital transformation.
