With this step, Vietnam Airlines becomes the pioneer airline to apply electronic identification and authentication solutions using biometric identification throughout the entire check-in process for passengers. These new services will soon be applied on all domestic flights of the airline.
Passengers check in at the boarding gate.
On April 16-17, at the domestic terminal T1 of Noi Bai airport and the new terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat airport, Vietnam Airlines coordinated with the Department of Administrative Police for Social Order (C06 - Ministry of Public Security) and Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) to successfully test the integrated flight check-in process on VNeID. The system has fully met the requirements for security and safety and is ready to be put into widespread practical operation as soon as it receives approval from the authorities.
The “Airline Services” feature integrated on VNeID allows users with a level 2 electronic identification account to perform online, quickly and safely the following operations: Buying tickets, checking in, going through security control and boarding the plane in a contactless manner, just by taking a photo of their face. The biometric authentication throughout the process helps shorten waiting time, especially during the peak holiday season, thereby improving the passenger experience.
Previously, identification document authentication was done manually, which was time-consuming and prone to congestion. With biometric identification technology (eKYC) integrated into VNeID, Vietnam Airlines passengers can travel throughout their journey without having to present documents, thanks to the system automatically comparing the customer's face with data from the national database. This process strictly complies with regulations on personal data protection.
The pioneering implementation of this solution demonstrates Vietnam Airlines' strong commitment to the journey of comprehensive digital transformation, and is also a practical step to implement Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Central Committee on promoting innovation and developing the digital economy. The airline is gradually realizing its goal of becoming a digital airline, aiming for international 5-star standards and bringing passengers the most modern, convenient and safe aviation technology experience.
