In the first 3 months of 2024, Laos welcomed more than 1 million international visitors, a very impressive number compared to the target set by the country for 2024 of welcoming more than 2.7 million foreign visitors.

According to the Lao Tourism Development Department, the largest number of tourists to Laos came from ASEAN countries with more than 600,000 arrivals, followed by the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, and the Americas. Thailand continued to be the country with the largest number of tourists visiting Laos with more than 300,000 arrivals, followed by Vietnam, China, South Korea, and the United States.

Attracting more than 1 million international visitors in just the first 3 months of the year shows that the Lao tourism industry is making positive changes and can complete or even exceed the target set for Visit Laos Year 2024.

Xieng Khuon Cultural Garden - one of the tourist destinations not to be missed when coming to the Land of a Million Elephants.

Following the success of the tourism industry in 2023, the Lao Government expects to welcome at least 4.6 million domestic and foreign tourists to Laos in 2024, generating revenue of about 1.3 billion USD.

To achieve the goals set for Tourism Year 2024, Laos has developed both short-term and long-term strategies to develop this key economic sector to compete effectively with other countries in the region, especially contributing to the development, creativity, career guidance, and job creation for local people, making an important contribution to the economic recovery and development of the country.
