Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee signed a cooperation discussion minutes with KOICA Vietnam

On the afternoon of April 9, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province held a signing ceremony of the Minutes of Discussion with the Korea International Cooperation Agency in Vietnam (KOICA Vietnam) on the Urban Drainage and Wastewater Treatment System Project of Buon Ho town.

Attending the ceremony on behalf of Dak Lak province were Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van; Secretary of Buon Ho Town Party Committee H'Yim Kđoh and representatives of relevant departments, branches and units. On behalf of KOICA Vietnam, there were Mr. Lee Byung Hwa - Country Director of KOICA Vietnam and members of the working delegation.

Delegates signed the Minutes of Discussion.

The Buon Ho Urban Drainage and Wastewater Treatment System Project is expected to be implemented from 2025 to 2029, with a total non-refundable aid budget from the Korean Government of 9.2 million USD. In addition, the Vietnamese Government will ensure the provision of sufficient capital, not exceeding 760,000 USD in cash, in-kind and human resources necessary to fulfill the commitments as described as well as for the Project to operate autonomously and sustainably.

The project is implemented to minimize negative impacts on people's health and reduce environmental pollution caused by wastewater that has not been collected and treated before being discharged into the environment; promote industrialization and modernization in the town and contribute to the overall sustainable socio-economic development of Dak Lak province...

During the implementation of the Project, relevant units will construct a public drainage system in Buon Ho town, including: wastewater treatment plant, sanitary sewers, pumping stations, manholes and drainage pipe connection systems to residential areas. At the same time, strengthen training on policies and capacity for management, operation and maintenance of sustainable public drainage systems...

Mr. Lee Byung Hwa - Country Director of KOICA Vietnam expressed his hope that when the project is completed, it will contribute to enhancing the sustainable development potential of the locality, improving the living environment and sanitation for people and ensuring the safe and effective use of water resources.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van said that in recent years, the cooperative relationship between Dak Lak province and Korean partners has increasingly deepened, achieved many practical results, bringing benefits to the people of the two countries.

Comrade Nguyen Thien Van highly appreciated the close coordination between KOICA Vietnam, Buon Ho Town People's Committee and relevant agencies during the survey and project development process. The thorough surveys, along with objective and useful consultations, helped the two sides reach an agreement on a cooperation plan, ensuring the use of capital for the right purpose, effectively, and meeting the sustainable development needs of the locality.
