The increase in the central exchange rate caused the listed exchange rates at commercial banks to increase sharply, in which, the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam ( BIDV ) listed the exchange rate at 26,120 VND/USD (buy) - 26,480 VND/USD (sell), an increase of 30 VND in both buying and selling.

In the world market, the USD Index measuring the strength of the USD against 6 key currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF) recovered to 98.01 points.
On the free market, the USD is trading at 26,517 VND/USD (buy) - 26,587 VND/USD (sell), an increase of 33 VND for both buying and selling compared to August 18.
According to the State Bank leader, the exchange rate is affected by both economic and market psychology factors. The global growth outlook is weakening, the US tariff policy is changing rapidly, along with unpredictable fluctuations in the international financial market.
In the context of great pressure, the State Bank will continue to closely monitor and flexibly adjust, prioritizing macroeconomic stability and supporting sustainable growth.
Meanwhile, the Euro exchange rate at Vietcombank recorded a downward trend, trading at 29,870 VND/EUR (down 83 VND), buying by transfer was 30,172 VND/EUR (down 84 VND) and selling was 31,445 VND/EUR (down 88 VND).
The British pound is listed at a cash buying price of VND34,593/GBP, a transfer buying price of VND34,943/GBP and a selling price of VND36,062/GBP, down VND96.18, VND97.15 and VND100.32 respectively compared to the previous session.
The Japanese Yen exchange rate also decreased by 0.28 VND in cash buying, down to 171.69 VND/JPY; the transfer buying rate decreased by 0.29 VND, down to 173.42 VND/JPY; the selling rate decreased by 0.29 VND, down to 182.60 VND/JPY.
