On September 28, the People's Court of Binh Phuoc province sentenced to death three defendants: Nguyen Ngoc Hai (29 years old); Dang Ngoc Quy (24 years old, all residing in Binh Long town, Binh Phuoc province) and Sbov Proeurn (36 years old, TboungKhmum province, Kingdom of Cambodia) for their involvement in the case of illegally transporting nearly 31kg of drugs from Cambodia to Vietnam.

Defendant Nguyen Ngoc Hai was also prosecuted for "Illegal possession of narcotics" and "Possession of military weapons".

The indictment stated that on March 26, 2022, a Cambodian man nicknamed “the big guy” called Sbov Proeurn to hire him to transport drugs from Cambodia to Ho Chi Minh City for sale at a fee of 200 USD/kg. Sbov Proeurn then agreed with Nguyen Ngoc Hai to receive drugs from the border to Ho Chi Minh City and receive 150 USD/kg. Hai hired Dang Ngoc Quy to transport two trips at a fee of 15 million VND. From June 24, 2022 to July 5, 2022, Sbov Proeurn and Hai transported drugs from Cambodia to Vietnam three times, of which Hai hired Quy to transport them twice.

Specifically, at around 9:00 a.m. on June 24, 2022, Sbov Proeurn rode a motorbike to the area near Memot district market, TboungKhmum province, Cambodia to receive two 20-liter plastic cans and a red nylon bag containing drugs from an unknown person, then brought them to Loc Ninh, Binh Phuoc province to hide. Hai and Quy then went to the meeting point to receive the drugs. From the phone number written on the plastic can, Hai delivered the drugs to 3 people in Ho Chi Minh City. Next, on July 2, 2022, Sbov Proeurn continued to the Memot market area to get the drugs.

In a similar manner, on July 5, 2022, Sbov Proeurn received from the "big guy" three plastic cans containing drugs to transport to the border. Afterwards, Sbov Proeurn met Hai at a restaurant in Binh Long town (Binh Phuoc). Quy went to the border to receive drugs to transport to Hai's sister's house, then went to the restaurant to receive 5 million VND from Hai to transport drugs to Ho Chi Minh City for delivery. When arriving at National Highway 13, through Hung Chien ward, Binh Long town, Quy was arrested by the police with nearly 31kg of drugs. Through the search, the police seized from Hai a revolver, a colt gun, 6 bullets and nearly 1kg of drugs.
