Mr. Pham Quang Thanh - Chairman of the Hanoi Labor Federation said that currently, the Capital Labor Union has proposed many solutions to help workers access legal credit, gradually improve their livelihoods, improve their living standards, and limit "black credit". In addition, the Union has also effectively implemented the Employment Capital Support Fund for union members and workers to borrow with a total amount of billions of VND. Along with taking care of their material life, the Unions at all levels also pay attention to taking care of their spiritual life, improving their health, organizing cultural, sports, entertainment, sightseeing, and vacation activities for workers.
In Ho Chi Minh City, activities to care for union members and employees have also been promoted, especially the "Union Member Welfare" Program, which has attracted a large number of employees to participate. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hai - Chairman of the Binh Tan District Labor Federation, based on the innovation requirements of the Trade Union organization, since May 2022, the District Labor Federation has implemented a program for businesses to accompany union members and employees with serious illnesses and expanded it to a "1 + 1" model, with grassroots unions taking care of union members and employees with serious illnesses. Funds mobilized from businesses, grassroots unions, and the Binh Tan District Labor Federation have provided monthly care for employees with serious illnesses and those in especially difficult circumstances. Up to now, 44 union members and employees with serious illnesses have benefited from the program with a total care amount of 488 million VND.
“One of the lessons we have learned through the practice of the above programs is that union officials must regularly research and innovate the content and operating models to suit reality. In addition, we must promote the implementation of welfare programs for union members and employees with the motto “Whatever is beneficial to union members and employees without violating the law, we must boldly do it” - Mr. Hai said.
By focusing on caring for and improving the material and spiritual life of workers, civil servants and employees, trade unions at all levels have promoted their role as a solid support and a bridge between union members and employees with agencies, units and enterprises. Thereby, creating a favorable environment for union members and employees to work with peace of mind and dedication.
