Concerns about tourism human resources

Việt NamViệt Nam22/04/2025

To better serve the needs of tourists, at this time, tourism units and businesses in the province are urgently renovating and preparing facilities, and recruiting staff for job positions. However, recruiting qualified staff is a difficult problem.

Ha Tinh currently has 28 travel agencies, including 10 international travel agencies, 18 domestic travel agencies and 6 tourism transport agencies. To effectively exploit tours and tourism routes, it requires high-quality human resources with communication skills, good foreign language skills and the ability to withstand work pressure, so recruitment is very difficult.

In terms of accommodation alone, the province has 312 hotels and motels with a capacity of nearly 7,000 rooms, of which nearly 10 establishments meet 3-5 star standards. However, due to the weather, human resources often fluctuate. Every year, at the beginning of the tourist season, service establishments and businesses struggle to recruit and train, which is time-consuming, laborious and costly.

An indispensable service for tourists is restaurants. With nearly 1,600 restaurants spread across the mountains, plains and sea, it has brought tourists and diners unforgettable experiences when coming to Ha Tinh. However, this sector also faces difficulties in recruiting and retaining employees.

Ha Tinh currently has more than 6,400 direct workers in tourism businesses and establishments and over 15,000 indirect workers serving tourism activities. However, the proportion of workers with professional training accounts for only about 33%. This figure partly reflects the quality and difficulties in recruiting, arranging and using human resources.

Ha Tinh is promoting the exploitation of various types of tourism such as: sea tourism, historical - cultural tourism, spiritual tourism, eco-tourism, rural agricultural tourism. However, because the tourism sector is still seasonal, difficulties in human resources are inevitable. To solve this problem, synchronous solutions are needed, starting with training policies in schools and businesses. In addition, tourism businesses need to pay attention to recruiting and giving incentives to trained workers, creating opportunities for employees to stabilize their jobs, contributing to improving the quality of service to tourists.
