Entering the 2024 season, Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh started with the first World Cup tournament in faraway South America in early March. Upon returning, both Vietnamese players continued to Germany to participate in the World Team Championship. That March was considered a very successful month for Tran Quyet Chien with the Bogota World Cup championship and together with Bao Phuong Vinh brought Vietnamese billiards the historic world championship title in the team event.
Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh face a busy competition schedule
Speaking upon returning to Vietnam from Germany, Tran Quyet Chien said: "I am not surprised at all with this achievement. Because Bao Phuong Vinh and I have prepared very carefully to break the "curse" when the Vietnamese team only reached the quarterfinals and had to stop many times participating. Although there were many difficult matches in the team tournament, both of us still tried to overcome and are very proud to bring home the historic championship for our country's sports."
Tran Quyet Chien started the 2024 season very successfully with 2 major titles.
However, right after returning to Vietnam, both players Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh continued to travel to Korea to participate in the Asian Carom Championship from March 28 to 31. This is the tournament in which Tran Quyet Chien brought home the gold medal for Vietnamese billiards in the 2019 season. In the 3-cushion carom event this year, there will be a "battle" between Vietnam and the world's top names from the host country such as defending champion Cho Myung-woo (Korea, world No. 1), Kim Jun-tae (Korea, world No. 10), Kim Haeng-jik (Korea, world No. 12)...
Bao Phuong Vinh is the current champion of 2 prestigious world 3-cushion carom tournaments.
Not stopping there, both Tran Quyet Chien and Bao Phuong Vinh will continue to participate in the HBSF tour organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards Federation, which will take place from April 1 to 7 in Ho Chi Minh City. After this tournament, both will continue to Da Nang to participate in the first National Carom Cup championship organized by the Vietnam Billiards Federation. This is a tournament that counts points in the rankings and through the tournament, selects 16 players to participate in the Ho Chi Minh City World Cup taking place in May.
