The Circular amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Regulations on university and college admissions in 2025 issued by the Ministry of Education and Training has a notable point, which is that schools are allowed to convert foreign language certificates into foreign language scores for admission. Currently, more than 40 universities have announced the conversion of IELTS scores for admission combined with graduation exam scores or transcripts, with a level of 4.0 or higher. Some schools accept IELTS 4.0. This is also the level that helps candidates to be exempted from the English exam in the recognition of high school graduation.
The rest, most require IELTS 5.0 or higher, the common conversion level is 7 - 8.5 points in English. Many schools give candidates 10 points in English with IELTS 6.5, such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi Open University, Hanoi Pedagogical University 2...
