Nightmare sinkhole is located in the Hung Thoong cave system, in Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park ( Quang Binh ). The sinkhole is 250m deep, and inside there is a mysterious underground river.
To reach the Nightmare Sinkhole, there is only one way: by rope from the top of the hole into the inside. In the early days of exploration , the explorers encountered many difficulties due to the rugged terrain.
The name Nightmare was also born from the arduous expeditions that drained the explorers' strength and time.
To date, only a few explorers have set foot on the bottom of the Nightmare sinkhole. This remains a huge mystery in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Natural Heritage , with many things still to be discovered and deciphered.
In order to diversify tourism products in the Hung Thoong cave system, recently, the Hung Thoong tour operator has developed an additional activity of ziplining through the Nightmare sinkhole for those who love conquest sports .
By participating in the zipline experience, visitors will be able to admire the entire sinkhole from above as well as try their hand at the feeling of floating in the air while looking towards the bottom of the deep hole.
The zipline tour through the Nightmare sinkhole is combined with the Hung Thoong cave exploration journey, priced at around 12 million VND/person. Participants must meet health requirements.
This is a new experience and the first time in Vietnam there is a zipline system through a natural sinkhole.
Providing more information about the safety level of the experience, the travel company said that the zipline system is designed with 3 international standard stainless steel cables. Each cable has a load capacity of up to 7 tons. Of which, 2 main sliding cables will be connected to the safety belt through the speed pulley system, the remaining cable will be connected and play a protective role.
All zipline anchor points are arranged independently, calculated according to uniform force angles and equipped with an active braking system.
Hung Thoong system includes many caves such as: Round Cave, Hung Cave, mountain lake, Thung Cave and Ac Mong sinkhole.
Experts consider this a unique and very different cave system. The reason it is called Hung Thoong is because it surrounds the stream of the same name.
The Hung Thoong system lies deep within the strictly protected area of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, surrounded by a system of million-year-old limestone mountains and primeval forests. The only way to access these caves is to walk along the forest trails.
