Secondary school students in Tan Binh district (HCMC) are excited about STEM education experience activities.

Accordingly, starting from the 2024-2025 school year, there will be 3 forms of organizing STEM education in secondary and high schools, including: Teaching science subjects according to STEM lessons; Organizing STEM experiential activities; Organizing scientific and technical research activities.

In particular, teaching science subjects according to STEM lessons is the main form of organizing STEM education in secondary schools. Teachers design STEM lessons to implement in the teaching process of subjects in the 2018 General Education Program according to the approach of intra-subject integration or interdisciplinary integration.

STEM lesson content closely follows the curriculum content of subjects to implement the 2018 General Education Program according to the prescribed duration of subjects in the program.

Students implementing STEM lessons are proactive in studying textbooks and learning materials to receive and apply knowledge through activities such as: choosing solutions to solve problems; practicing designing, manufacturing, testing designs; sharing, discussing, perfecting or adjusting designs under the guidance of teachers.

STEM experiential activities will be organized through clubs or practical experiential activities. The school organizes them according to students' interests, talents and choices voluntarily.

The form of organization of scientific and technical research activities is scientific and technical research activities carried out in the form of a research topic/project by an individual or a group of 2 members, under the guidance of a teacher or scientist with appropriate expertise.

Leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training noted that, depending on the goals, requirements to be achieved for each subject and the physical facilities, schools can flexibly apply forms of organizing STEM education.

The content of the STEM education lesson is associated with the relatively complete solution of a problem, students are actively and proactively involved in learning and know how to apply the knowledge they have just learned to solve the problem. Thereby contributing to the formation of qualities and abilities for students.
