Lao New Year (Bunpimay) is an important holiday for Lao people, imbued with traditional and cultural values. According to the Gregorian calendar, Lao New Year in 2025 will begin from April 13 to April 15. This is the time when Lao people celebrate the new year according to the Buddhist calendar, different from the Lunar New Year in East Asian countries.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Khamphao Ernthavanh
On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong sent New Year greetings to the leaders of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Ambassador Khamphao Ernthavanh personally, and all staff of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism always closely monitor the activities of the Lao Embassy in Vietnam in particular and the activities of Laos in general and expressed their joy at the achievements Laos has made in recent times.
The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that in 2025, Vietnam and Laos will continue to promote cooperation through specific, practical and in-depth activities to further develop the economic life of the people of the two countries, further tightening the friendship and close brotherhood.
Overview of the meeting
Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong was also pleased to inform Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh about the progress of construction of a number of cultural projects with cooperation between the two countries. The Deputy Minister said that all projects were being constructed on schedule, ensuring the set goals, tasks and requirements.
Expressing gratitude to the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Deputy Minister Hoang Dao Cuong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Khamphao Ernthavanh affirmed that 2025 is of great significance in promoting the strong relationship between the two countries.
Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh said that in the past time, especially in 2024, the year Laos assumes the position of ASEAN Chair, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has accompanied and made great contributions in all three aspects of culture, sports and tourism, actively contributing to helping Laos fulfill its tasks.
