Average income of ethnic minorities reaches 84.3 million VND/year

According to the Provincial People's Committee, implementing the National Target Program on Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas, Phase I from 2021-2025, the capital allocated to implement the program in the province is more than 1,022 billion VND; from which 9 projects have been implemented.

Up to now, the program has contributed to gradually narrowing the gap in living standards and incomes of ethnic minority and mountainous areas compared to the average of the whole province and the whole country. The socio-economic situation of ethnic minority areas has developed; the material and spiritual life of ethnic minority people has improved significantly, especially poor and near-poor households of ethnic minorities.

Notably, the average income of ethnic minorities reached 84.3 million VND/person/year; the rate of ethnic minorities participating in health insurance reached over 98%; 100% of hamlets and quarters have paved roads to the center; over 99% of households have access to the national grid and other suitable power sources; and have access to clean water for daily use.

In particular, 17/17 communes in region III, 64 communes in ethnic minority areas met the new rural standards and 62/62 extremely disadvantaged hamlets met the new rural hamlet criteria, exceeding the plan target for the 2021-2025 period.
