Ho Chi Minh City affected by earthquake from Myanmar

According to a representative of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police, to deal with the risk of an earthquake, people need to secure household items such as televisions, mirrors, computers, bookshelves, cabinets and place them away from the bed to limit the risk of falling and causing injury.

Keep flashlights, batteries, radios, tapes, medicine... in convenient, easy-to-reach locations.

Identify locations in the house and emergency exits when in high-rise buildings, follow announcements and instructions from disaster prevention, control and rescue agencies.

Save the emergency phone numbers of ambulances, fire departments and other authorities to call for help when needed such as 114 for rescue, 115 for emergency...

Ho Chi Minh City residents panic due to earthquake.

When an earthquake occurs, if you are indoors, immediately crawl under the table/bed to avoid hard objects falling on your head. Sit in the corner of the room and stay away from glass doors, avoid moving while the shaking is still happening.

Pay attention to protecting your head with available items such as blankets, pillows or covering your head with your hands...

When the shaking stops, turn off the circuit breaker and gas valve, move out by stairs (absolutely do not use the elevator). If it is dark, use a flashlight to light the way instead of matches, lighters, candles... because they can easily cause fire. At the same time, locate the location of relatives in the house for quick rescue.

Many people in high-rise buildings rushed to the ground when the earthquake occurred.

In case you are on the road, you need to stop the car on the side of the road and take refuge in an empty lot.

Stay away from crowded areas, high-rise buildings, high walls, under bridges, billboards, power lines, and electric poles.

The Institute of Geophysics reported that at 1:20 p.m. today (Vietnam time), a 7.1-magnitude earthquake occurred in Myanmar, causing tremors in Ho Chi Minh City.

If you are in a stadium or theater, stay still until the shaking stops and then leave in an orderly manner.

If you are near the coast, move away from the shore because earthquakes can cause tsunamis.

More importantly, people proactively equip themselves with knowledge to respond when an earthquake occurs to minimize damage to people and property.
